Lin et lignes retissés : De la réappropriation de l’histoire dans « Cloth » de Rita Duffy et Paul Muldoon
2020
International audience; This paper focuses on Cloth, A Visual and Verbal Collaboration by Paul Muldoon and Rita Duffy. Muldoon’s poetic text and Duffy’s paintings were commissioned by the Millennium Court Arts Centre in Portadown in 2007 to feature in a collaborative exhibition and catalogue under the general banner “Interrogating Contested Spaces in Post-Conflict Society”. Duffy’s images and Muldoon’s prose poem – which subtly echo W.B. Yeats’s poem “Cuchulain Comforted” – are all about delineating and crossing borders between domestic and institutional spaces; personal and political spaces; garments, skin and psyche; violence and peace; etc. Duffy’s images of vestments, shirts or handkerc…
Puheenjohtajana sosiaali- ja terveysjärjestössä : intressinä aatteen palo, asiat vai "minä" -projektit?
2016
TIIVISTELMÄ PUHEENJOHTAJANA SOSIAALI- JA TERVEYSJÄRJESTÖSSÄ Intressinä aatteen palo, asiat vai ”minä” -projektit? Anne Heikkinen Sosiologia/Kansalaisyhteiskunnan asiantuntijuuden maisteriohjelma Pro gradu-tutkielma Yhteiskuntatieteiden ja filosofian laitos Jyväskylän yliopisto Ohjaaja: Petri Ruuskanen Kevät 2016 94 sivua + 6 liitettä Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää mitkä intressit ohjaavat sosiaali- ja terveysjärjestöjen puheenjohtajien toimintaa ja valintoja. Seuraaviin tutkimuskysymyksiin haettiin vastauksia: 1. Onko toiminnan taustalla edelleen aatteen palo vai ohjaako osallistumista henkilökohtaiset intressit ns. ”minä” -projektit? 2. Ovatko puheenjohtajien intressit arvo- vai p…
Are skeletal muscle FNDC5 expression and irisin release regulated by exercise and related to health?
2013
Recently, contradictory findings have been reported concerning the function of irisin and its precursor gene, skeletal muscle FNDC5, in energy homeostasis, and the associated regulatory role of exercise and PGC-1α. We therefore evaluated whether muscle FNDC5 mRNA and serum irisin are exercise responsive and whether PGC-1α expression is associated with FNDC5 expression. The male subjects in the study performed single exercises: (1) 1 h low-intensity aerobic exercise (AE) (middle-aged, n= 17), (2) a heavy-intensity resistance exercise (RE) bout (young n= 10, older n= 11) (27 vs. 62 years), (3) long-term 21 weeks endurance exercise (EE) training alone (twice a week, middle-aged, n= 9), or (4) …
Circulating Irisin Levels as a Marker of Osteosarcopenic-Obesity in Cushing’s Disease
2020
Purpose: To evaluate circulating irisin levels in patients with active and controlled Cushing’s disease (CD). Design: Forty-four patients with CD evaluated during the active phase and after 12 months of biochemical remission and 40 controls were recruited. Methods: Phenotypic, anthropometric, hormonal and metabolic parameters, including insulin sensitivity estimation by homeostatic model of insulin resistance, Matsuda index and oral disposition index and circulating irisin levels were evaluated. Results: Patients with active CD showed lower irisin levels compared to controls (p<0.001) and controlled CD (p<0.001). The independent variables significantly associated with irisin were wais…
Kontrollipuutteiden olennaisuuden arviointiin vaikuttavat tekijät ja olennaisen kontrollipuutteen havaitsemisen vaikutukset lakisääteisessä tilintark…
2016
Sisäisten kontrollien tarkastus on kiinteä osa riskilähtöistä tilintarkastusta.
1996
Most recently we have assisted to a considerable increase of investigations on cons tructivi Stic approaches to Science teaching, but among all these works we rarely found detailed proposals for including the History and Philosophy of Science. In this paper we consider how to initiate this trend and which should be the aims in order to get a better Science teaching. We consider basically which the pupils’ perceptions of Science in a High School level are in order to show how we can modify them by means of introducing the History of Science under a new perspective.
Different muscarine receptors mediate the prejunctional inhibition of [3H]-noradrenaline release in rat or guinea-pig iris and the contraction of the…
1989
To investigate the muscarine receptor type mediating inhibition of [3H]-noradrenaline release from the isolated rat and guinea-pig iris we have determined the potency of antimuscarinic drugs to antagonize the methacholine-induced inhibition of [3H]-noradrenaline overflow evoked by field stimulation (3 Hz, 2 min). The prejunctional apparent affinities were compared with those obtained for postjunctional muscarine receptors mediating the methacholine-induced contraction of the isolated rabbit iris sphincter muscle. Prejunctional apparent affinity constants of pirenzepine (6.67), himbacine (8.51), methoctramine (7.92), 4-diphenylacetoxy-N-methylpiperidine methiodide (4-DAMP, 8.00), hexahydro-d…
Iris Claw Phakic Lens—Intermediate and Long-term Corneal Endothelial Changes
1994
OBJECTIVE: To study the alterations in the corneal endothelial layer two years after the implantation of iris claw phakic lenses. STUDY DESIGN: Prospective study of postoperative results with a minimum follow-up of 6 months, maximum of two years and a mean of 14 months. SETTING: Department of Ophthalmology, ‘La Fe’ University Hospital, Department of Surgery of Valencia School of Medicine, Valencia, Spain. PATIENTS: Ninety eyes of 70 patients presenting high myopia who underwent anterior chamber phakic lens implantation with iris fixation IOLs in the last two years. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Non-contact specular microscopy with video image system was used to perform examination of the corneal e…
Latanoprost-induced iris darkening: a morphometric study of human peripheral iridectomies.
2003
Abstract Purpose. This microscopic study was undertaken to compare the melanocytes of peripheral iridectomy specimens from two eyes that had latanoprost-induced iris darkening (LIID) with iridectomies taken from the fellow untreated eyes. Methods. The two patients in this study were the ones who underwent LIID in the latanoprost treated eye from a series of 17 patients requiring bilateral trabeculectomy. The first trabeculectomy procedure provided a control peripheral iridectomy for each patient, whereas the second eye was treated with once daily 50 μg ml−1 latanoprost drops for 6 months. The four peripheral iridectomy specimens from the two LIID patients were subjected to quantitative morp…
Oral findings in Midline Syndrome: a case report and literature review
2010
We describe a female patient with a midline syndrome. The patient presents agenesis of the corpus callosum, encephalocele, iris coloboma, hypertelorism, submucosal cleft palate and dental anomalies. Despite being very characteristic, her phenotypical traits do not coincide exactly with those reported to date in the literature. The karyotype and the molecular cytogenetic study do not show mutations. We identify the presence of dental anomalies in the mother and other family members, not being identified MSX1 and PAX9 mutations that could the related with their etiology. Despite the fact that dental agenesis has been related to a large number of other malformation syndromes and congenital con…
