Parenting culture(s): Ideal-parent beliefs across 37 countries

What is it to be “an ideal parent”? Does the answer differ across countries and social classes? To answer these questions in a way that minimizes bias and ethnocentrism, we used open-ended questions to explore ideal-parent beliefs among 8,357 mothers and 3,517 fathers from 37 countries. Leximancer Semantic Network Analysis was utilized to first determine parenting culture zones (i.e., countries with shared ideal-parent beliefs) and then extract the predominant themes and concepts in each culture zone. Tutkimuksessa selvitetään minkälaista huumoria Disneyn vuonna 2013 ilmestyneessä animaatioelokuvassa Frozen – Huurteinen seikkailu käytetään. Aineistona on suomenkielinen käännösversio. Aihe on mielenkiintoinen muun muassa sen vuoksi, että vaikka Disney-tutkimusta on aikaisemmin tehty paljon ja myös huumoria on näissä tarkasteltu, niin tuoreimmista elokuvista ja paljon puhuttaneesta Frozenista ei ole tältä osin juurikaan tutkimustietoa. Living in high latitudes and altitudes sets specific requirements on species’ ability to forecast seasonal changes and to respond to them in an appropriate way. Adaptation into diverse environmental conditions can also lead to ecological speciation through habitat isolation or by inducing changes in traits that influence assortative mating. AbstractSaccular intracranial aneurysm (sIA) rupture leads to subarachnoid haemorrhage and is preceded by chronic inflammation and atherosclerotic changes of the sIA wall. Increased lymphangiogenesis has been detected in atherosclerotic extracranial arteries and in abdominal aortic aneurysms, but the presence of lymphatic vessels in sIAs has remained unexplored. We analyzed the variability in vendace population parameters in the context of a life table. Parameters related to growth, fecundity and survival were estimated for post-recruitment (age > 1 growing season) life stages of Lake Southern Konnevesi vendace in both very high and low population abundance regimes. Pre-recruitment survival producing population stability was then determined. We found a very strong compensatory density dependence in growth, fecundity and survival: during low abundance, a lifetime reproductive output of a female was almost 20 times that of the abundant regime.
