Mass ofAl23for testing the isobaric multiplet mass equation
2009
The mass excess of the proton-rich nucleus $^{23}\mathrm{Al}$ has been measured with the JYFLTRAP Penning trap setup. As a result of our experiment we obtain a mass excess of 6748.07(34) keV, and by combining the value to existing experimental data we have tested the validity of the isobaric multiplet mass equation $(\mathrm{IMME})$ for the $T=3/2$ quartet in the $A=23$ isobar. The fit to the IMME results in a vanishing cubic term equivalent to zero with high precision [$0.22(42)$ keV].
Penning-trap-assisted study of 115Ru beta decay
2011
The beta decay of 115Ru has been studied by means of Penning-trap-assisted beta and gamma spectroscopy at the IGISOL facility. The level scheme of 115Rh has been substantially extended and compared with the level systematics of lighter rhodium isotopes. Tentative candidates for three states of the deformed K = 1/2 band have been suggested. The beta-strength distribution of the beta decay of 115Ru differs from the beta decays of 111, 113, 113mRu isotopes due to non-observation of the 3-quasiparticle states in 115Rh. The decay properties of 115Ru indicate a spin-parity of (3/2+ for its beta-decaying ground state. In addition, possible Nilsson states as well as the shape and spin transitions i…
Dalitz plot analysis ofB0→D¯0π+π−decays
2015
The resonant substructures of $B^0 \to \overline{D}^0 \pi^+\pi^-$ decays are studied with the Dalitz plot technique. In this study a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collisions collected by the LHCb detector is used. The branching fraction of the $B^0 \to \overline{D}^0 \pi^+\pi^-$ decay in the region $m(\overline{D}^0\pi^{\pm})>2.1$ GeV$/c^2$ is measured to be $(8.46 \pm 0.14 \pm 0.29 \pm 0.40) \times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the last arises from the normalisation channel $B^0 \to D^*(2010)^-\pi^+$. The $\pi^+\pi^-$ S-wave components are modelled with the Isobar and K-matrix formalisms. …
Microscopic nuclear-structure calculations for the solar-neutrino detector and close-lying isobars
2003
In the present solar-neutrino experiments, mainly observing the pp contribution of the solar-neutrino flux, an important role is played by 71Ga. The structure of this detector nucleus and three of its isobars have been calculated by using the microscopic quasiparticle–phonon model. Using a realistic effective two-body interaction in a realistic valence space, the method yielded energy spectra in good agreement with experiments. The calculated logft values for a number of spontaneous and neutrino-induced Gamow–Teller transitions, when compared with the experimental results, gave qualitatively correct but overestimated transition-strength values in most cases.
The limits of the nuclear landscape
2012
In 2011, 100 new nuclides were discovered. They joined the approximately 3,000 stable and radioactive nuclides that either occur naturally on Earth or are synthesized in the laboratory. Every atomic nucleus, characterized by a specific number of protons and neutrons, occupies a spot on the chart of nuclides, which is bounded by 'drip lines' indicating the values of neutron and proton number at which nuclear binding ends. The placement of the neutron drip line for the heavier elements is based on theoretical predictions using extreme extrapolations, and so is uncertain. However, it is not known how uncertain it is or how many protons and neutrons can be bound in a nucleus. Here we estimate t…
Virtual photons and electrodisintegration of the deuteron
1982
The validity of the virtual photon concept in the analysis of deuteron electrodisintegration for equivalent photon energies up to 300 MeV is investigated. The deuteron and the final state interaction are described by the consistent nonrelativistic calculation of Fabian and Arenhoevel neglecting the effects of meson exchange currents and isobar configurations. We find that in well defined kinematic domains the use of the virtual photon concept is justified in extracting photodisintegration cross sections.
Ingredients of Calculation
1991
The calculation is done in the conventional framework of non-relativistic nuclear physics with nucleon, meson and isobar degrees of freedom but the dominant relativistic corrections of lowest order are included as outlined below.
Comment on the Deuteron Structure FunctionA(q2)at High Momentum Transfers
1976
Calculations of A (q/sup 2/) were performed for various NN potentials and electromagnetic nucleon form factors at q/sup 2/=0--160 fm/sup -2/ with inclusion of isobar configurations and meson exchange currents, indicating that recent elastic electron scattering experiments do not rule out the existence of isobar configurations and meson exchange currents in the deuteron as has been conjectured. Pion Photo- and Electroproduction on the Proton
1999
Using a unitary isobar model a new operator for pion photo- and electroproduction has been developed for nuclear applications at photon equivalent energies up to 1 GeV. The model contains Born terms, vector mesons and nucleon resonances (P 33(1232), P 11(1440), D 13(1520), S 11(1535), F 15(1680), and D 33(1700)). Within this model we have obtained good agreement with the experimental data for pion photo- and electroproduction on the nucleon for both differential cross sections and polarization observables.
Recent results from the MAID and Dubna-Mainz-Taipei PWA analysis
2008
The unitary isobar model MAID2007 has been developed to analyze the world data of pion photo- and electroproduction. The model contains both a common background and several resonance terms. The background is unitarized according to the K-matrix prescription, and the 13 four-star resonances with masses below 2 GeV are described by appropriately unitarized Breit-Wigner forms. The data have been analyzed by both single-energy and global fits, and the transverse and longitudinal helicity amplitudes have been extracted for the four-star resonances below 2 GeV. Because of its inherent simplicity, MAID2007 is well adopted for predictions and analysis of the observables in pion photo- and electropr…
