This study addresses the conceptual outlines of the financial capabilities of moth- ers. It examines how the perspectives and concepts of the capability approach can be utilized in outlining the relationship between motherhood and financial aspects. The aim is to develop conceptual tools for analyzing the choices and financial agency of mothers. This study emphasizes the methodological dimension using three elements: the capability approach, feminist economics and memory work. Abstract Background The TGFβ1-induced signal transduction processes involved in growth and differentiation are only partly known. The three-dimensional epithelial differentiation model, in which T84 epithelial cells are induced to differentiate either with TGFβ1 or IMR-90 mesenchymal cell-secreted soluble factors, is previously shown to model epithelial cell differentiation seen in intestine. Raportissa tarkastellaan Tilastokeskuksen laajojen rekisteriaineistojen pohjalta opintouratyyppien ja koulutuksellisten siirtymien yleisyyttä ammatillisen toisen asteen peruskoulutuksessa ja korkeakoulutuksessa (ammattikorkeakouluissa ja yliopistoissa). There is increasing attention on the retention of international students with many stakeholders desiring to keep international students for long-term economic growth. This study examines the factors affecting international students to stay in Finland five years after initial enrolment with particular focus on the role graduation plays in students staying or leaving. Tracking 11 (years) entering cohorts for five years across national (Finland) data registries, we found evidence of an inverse relationship between graduation, degree type, and the probability of staying; higher the degree level of graduation, the decrease in probability an international student stays. Gut microbiota play an important role in host health. Yet, the drivers and patterns of microbiota imbalance (dysbiosis) in wild animals remain largely unexplored. One hypothesised outcome of stress on animal microbiomes is a destabilised microbial community that is characterised by an increase in inter-individual differences compared with microbiomes of healthy animals, which are expected to be (i) temporally stable and (ii) relatively similar among individuals. Making experts-by-experience : governmental ethnography of participatory initiatives in Finnish social welfare organisations

This dissertation analyses expertise-by-experience in Finnish social welfare organisations as part of the participatory practices presented as new democracy. It employs a governmental ethnographic method to investigate how a person with difficult experiences is made into ‘an expert of one’s own life’ and how the subjectivity thus created is connected to different possibilities and rationales of participation.
