Life-space assessment incorporates all movements in terms of the distance from home, the frequency of movement and the need of assistance for movement. Executive function (EF) is an important higher order cognitive ability that controls and guides people’s goal-directed actions. We examined the cross-sectional and longitudinal associations between EF and life-space mobility, and investigated if perceived walking difficulties, lower extremity performance, and transportation difficulties explain the association. Professional expertise, integrative thinking, wisdom, and phronēsis

This chapter examines adult thinking from the perspective of professional expertise and phronēsis, that is, practical wisdom. It first describes differences between experts and novices, and presents three conceptualisations of the development of expertise. This is followed by an analysis of the form of adult thinking referred to as integrative thinking, and phronēsis. The relationship of these two with expertise is examined. The analysis shows that professional expertise requires holistic thinking involving the ability to integrate or conciliate various and even conflicting perspectives in order to find new solutions to problems. Tarkastelemme artikkelissamme kotihoidon työntekijöiden teknologian käyttämiseen liittyviä tunteita ja syitä niiden takana. Tutkimuskysymyksemme ovat: 1) Millaisia tunteita kotihoidon työntekijät liittävät työssä käyttämäänsä teknologiaan? 2) Millaisia syitä kotihoidon työntekijöiden tunteiden taustalta on havaittavissa? Artikkelimme perustuu vuonna 2019 kerättyyn kyselytutkimusaineistoon ja sen avokysymykseen, joka koskee työssä käytettyyn teknologiaan liittyviä tunteita. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin kotiympäristön vaikutusta lapsen motivaatioon ja lukutaitoon dysleksian riskiryhmässä lasten ollessa peruskoulun ensimmäisellä ja toisella luokalla. Tutkittavat 107 lasta kuuluivat Jyväskylän yliopiston Lapsen kielen kehitys ja geneettinen dysleksiariski - tutkimusprojektiin ja heillä oli todettu geneettinen dysleksiariski. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tutkia vanhemman läksyjen tekoon osallistumisen yhteyttä lapsen motivaatioon ja lukemisen taitoihin. Samalla pyrittiin laajentamaan käsitystä kotiympäristön vaikutuksesta lapsen lukutaitoon kouluiässä.
