Purpose The purpose of this study is to identify factors that foster or prevent sense of belonging among frontline and middle managers in social and health-care services in Finland. Design/methodology/approach The data have been collected among social and health-care managers (n = 135; 64 per cent nursing managers) through two open-ended questions in a questionnaire concerning sense of community. The results of the open-ended questions have been analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan Viroa melko itsevaltaisesti 1930-luvulla hallinneiden Konstantin Pätsin, armeijan ylipäällikön Johan Laidonerin ja suurimman osan Pätsin ajasta pääministerin virkaa toimittaneen Kaarel Eenpalun puheiden menneisyyspolitiikkaa. Tutkitut puheet käsittelivät Viron historiaa ennen 1800-luvun puoliväliin sijoittunutta niin sanottua kansallista heräämisaikaa. Aika muinaisen vapausajan lopusta kansalliseen heräämisaikaan on nähty kansallisesti passiivisena ajanjaksona, jolloin virolaisilla ei ollut varsinaista kansallistunnetta. AbstractThis article reports on a phenomenographic investigation into practitioners’ conceptions of ethical practice in social networking in career services. The results show that ethical practice was conceived as stemming from: (1) an information orientation, (2) a networking orientation, (3) an educational orientation, and (4) a collaborative orientation. Differences appeared along six dimensions including: approach, activities, level of usage, perception, strategy and ethical principles. The aim of this chapter is to examine how the uncertainty and instability of working life is reflected in Finnish polytechnic graduates’ employment. The present study investigates the fields of business and engineering by comparing two graduate cohorts. The societal context in which new graduates enter working life is that of an increasing precariousness in the labour market, which affects higher education graduates as well as the general population. Tiivistelmä - Referat – Abstract Tavoitteet Tutkimuksen lähtökohtana on yksilöllisen ja yhteisöllisen oppimisen välinen jännite erilaisine oppimisteorioineen. Oppimiskäsitysten tarkastelussa hyödynnettiin muun muassa Tynjälän (1999), Vygotskyn (1982), Laven ja Wengerin (1991) sekä Dillenbourgin (1999) määritelmiä. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on tutkia kasvatus- ja yhteiskuntatieteiden opiskelijoiden käsityksiä yhteisöllisestä oppimisesta yliopiston oppimisympäristöissä. Yhteisöllistä oppimista lähestytään yhteisöllisyyden, vertaistuen ja osallistumisen näkökulmista.
