Socioecological correlates of perceived motor competence in 5- to 7-year-old Finnish children
2019
We investigated child, family, and environmental factors associated with young children’s perceptions of locomotor (LM) and object control (OC) skills. The participants comprised 472 children (6.22 ± 0.63) and their parents. The children were assessed for their perception of motor competence in LM and OC skills (using the pictorial scale of Perceived Movement Skill Competence for young children), and actual motor competence (Test of Gross Motor Development 3rd edition and Körperkoordinationstest Für Kinder). Anthropometrics were calculated using the children’s body mass index standard deviation scores. A parent questionnaire included questions about child factors (sex, child’s independent w…

The developmental dynamics between causal attributions and self-concept of ability from 7th grade through 9th grade
2014
The aim of the present study was to investigate how and to what extent mathematics- and Finnish language-related causal attributions and self-concept of abilities related among adolescents in upper comprehensive school. The present study also examined whether it is self-concepts that predict subsequent attributions or vice versa. A total of 237 students participated in the study. The data was gathered via questionnaires (attributions and self-concepts) and tests (performance in math and in Finnish language) when the students were in 7th grade and again when they were in 9th grade. The results showed that in both school subjects high self-concept was associated with internalizing success and…
Review of Abnormal Self-Knowledge in Major Depressive Disorder
2019
Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is an affective disorder that is harmful to both physical and mental health. Objective: To gain a better understanding of MDD, we reviewed previous studies that focused on the behavioral and neurological changes of self-knowledge in this illness. Main Findings: On the behavioral level, depressed individuals exhibited negative self-knowledge in an explicit way, while more heterogeneous patterns were reported in imp…

"Motiivit anto aivan uuden näkökulman" : kerronnallinen tutkimus Reiss motivaatioprofiilin merkityksestä työntekijöiden identiteettityön vahvistajana
2017
Tämän laadullisen tutkimuksen tavoitteena on lisätä ymmärrystä työntekijöiden sisäisen motivaation merkityksestä työelämäkontekstissa. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on ymmärtää kuuden työntekijän kertomusten avulla niitä merkityksiä, joita he Reiss Motivaatioprofiilikokemukselleen antavat.
