Ympäristötekijöiden käyttö kodintekniikka-alan yritysten markkinoinnissa Itäkeskuksen alueella : kvalitatiivinen tutkimus
2011
Tutkimuksen aiheena on ympäristötekijöiden käyttö kodintekniikkaa myyvien yritysten mainonnassa Helsingin Itäkeskuksen alueella. Aineistona käytetään yritysten sanomalehti- ja suorajakomainoksia ja niiden Internet-kotisivuja. Tutkimusote on kvalitatiivinen ja aineisto tyypitellään puolistrukturoidulla lomakkeella. Tutkimuksessa pyrittiin selvittämään ympäristöargumenttien lisäksi sitä, ovatko yritykset siirtyneet perinteisen markkinointimixin keinoista kohti kokonaisvaltaisempaa ja enemmän kuluttajanäkökulmasta asioita tarkastelevaa markkinointinäkökulmaa. Teoriaosuudessa verrataan perinteistä markkinointiparadigmaa uudempaan normatiiviseen kestävän kehityksen markkinointiparadigmaan. Tutki…
Physical activity from adolescence to young adulthood: patterns of change, and their associations with activity domains and sedentary time
2021
Background Longitudinal studies demonstrate an average decline in physical activity (PA) from adolescence to young adulthood. However, while some subgroups of adolescents decrease activity, others increase or maintain high or low activity. Activity domains may differ between subgroups (exhibiting different PA patterns), and they offer valuable information for targeted health promotion. Hence, the aim of this study was to identify PA patterns from adolescence to young adulthood; also to explore the associations of (i) changes in PA domains and in sedentary time, (ii) sociodemographic factors, and (iii) self-rated health with diverging PA patterns. Methods The observational cohort study data …
Assessment of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Propensity towards HPV Vaccine of Young Adult Students in Italy
2020
Background: Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI), representing the main cause of genital warts and cervical cancer. This cross-sectional study evaluated knowledge and attitudes about HPV infection, related diseases, and prevention and propensity towards HPV vaccine among undergraduate students. Methods: An online and written survey about HPV and its prevention, targeted to young adults of both genders, was addressed to students attending health sciences and other schools at Universities of Genoa and Bari. Results: The overall median knowledge and attitude scores were 56.3% (25&ndash
Deciding on the direction of career and life : personal goals, identity development, and well-being during the transition to adulthood
2017
Humans make efforts to manage their lives, and they do this by setting goals and making decisions. When they commit to their decisions, they construct their identity. This research aimed to study young people’s personal goal contents and appraisals, and how these constructs were related to identity and career identity development and subjective well-being. The theoretical basis of this research comprised the life-span model of motivation (Nurmi, 2004; Salmela-Aro, 2009), the conceptualisation of phase- adequate engagement (Dietrich, Parker, & Salmela-Aro, 2012), and the dual-cycle model of identity development (Luyckx, Goossens, Soenens, & Beyers, 2006; Luyckx et al., 2008). The data for th…
Moral Orders of Mobility: Youth Aspirations and ‘Doing’ Social Position in Finland
2021
By studying the moral orders that young Finnish adults (aged 18–30) attach to geographical mobility, this article reveals previously neglected relationships between aspiration and mobility. The 40 young adult interviewees are living in the midst of Finnish political debates about youth aspiration, which emphasise geographical rather than social mobility as a way to enhance employability and demonstrate aspiration. We argue that young people themselves use the discourse of geographical mobility by leaning on morally ordered social positionings which tend to be classed and gendered. They position themselves on a moral map of Finnish society, and in doing so they work and rework the social or…
Young Elderly and Digital Coaching : A Quantitative Intervention Study on Exercise Self-Efficacy
2020
Sport and wellness technology devices are becoming an increasingly relevant topic when discussing health and wellness. This study focuses on the use of a “digital coach”, within a specific population, young elderly people. This research explored how the use of a digital coach would affect self-efficacy related to physical activity and exercise among young elderly. Thisquantitative intervention study provided a digital coaching device to a group of young elderly people ranging from 61-78 in age for 10-weeks. It was found that a digital coach may be useful for this population, particularly in increasing their perceived confidence in exercising independently. However, the participants’ percept…
A Follow-Up On The Changes in the Changes in the Use Intention of Digital Wellness Technologies and Its Antecedents Over Time : The Use of Physical A…
2021
This study aims to further promote the understanding of the antecedents of the acceptance and use of digital wellness technologies among elderly people through a follow-up to our two prior studies, one which examines the potential longer-term temporal changes in the use intention of digital wellness technologies and its antecedents in the case of the young elderly segment and physical activity logger applications. We base this examination theoretically on UTAUT2 and empirically on survey data that is collected from 92 Finnish young elderly users of a physical activity logger application in three subsequent time points and analysed with partial least squares structural equation modelling (PL…
Forming Sustainable Physical Activity Programs Among Young Elderly : A Combined ELM & UTAUT Approach
2021
There is consensus in health studies that regular physical activities of sufficient intensity and duration contribute to better health both in the short and long term. In an ongoing research program, we focus on getting the young elderly, the 60-75 years age group, to adopt and include physical activities as part of their daily routines. One reason for addressing young elderly is large numbers – in Finland health care costs for the elderly was 3.7 B€ in 2019 and will increase dramatically if the young elderly group is in bad shape when they reach the 75+ age group. We are finding out that systematic physical activities can serve as preventive health care for the young elderly. We are also l…
Applying UTAUT2 to Explain the Use of Physical Activity Logger Applications Among Young Elderly
2020
Digital wellness technologies have been proposed as a promising way to promote the levels of physical activity and to solve the prevalent problem of physical inactivity among elderly people. In this study, we propose and test a research model for explaining the acceptance and use of these technologies in the case of the young elderly segment (people aged 60–75 years) and physical activity logger applications. The proposed model is theoretically founded on UTAUT2, and it is empirically tested by using the data collected from 115 Finnish young elderly users of a physical activity logger application and analysed with partial least squares based structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). We find …
