Neoclassical Growth, Environment and Technological Change: The Environmental Kuznets Curve

The paper investigates socially optimal patterns of economic growth and environmental quality in a neoclassical growth model with endogenous technological progress. In the model, the environmental quality affects positively not only to utility but also to production. However, cleaner technologies can be used in the economy whether a part of the output is used in environmentally oriented R&D. Towards a sustainable well-being

Given the need of a new economic paradigm for the achievement of a world of sustainable wellbeing, this paper presents the main findings from the literature on sustainable well-being. We try to identify a few approaches of measurement, highlighting strengths and weaknesses. We analyzed Romania's position in the global context in terms of happiness index. Are sustainable well-being indicators a good guide for policy-making? Also, the paper discusses the role of education in ensuring the sustainable well-being.

Consumers’ Sustainability Perceptions of the Supply Chain of Locally Produced Food

This article is based on a qualitative focus group study regarding consumer perceptions about the sustainability of locally produced food supply chains. Sustainability perceptions were analyzed through thematic content analysis, where the most important economic, environmental and social themes of the supply chain were emphasized. According to the research findings, the socio-cultural aspects encompassing locally produced food form the most important sustainability dimension for consumers. Greenhouse tomato cultivation plays an important role in Sicily, being the primary production area in Italy, due to its favorable pedo-climatic conditions that permit extra-seasonal productions.
