Uncertainties on the determination of the strong coupling αs from the energy evolution of jet fragmentation functions at low z

The QCD coupling alpha_s is determined at NLO*+NMLLA accuracy from the comparison of experimental jet data to theoretical predictions of the energy-evolution of the parton-to-hadron fragmentation function moments (multiplicity, peak, width, skewness) at low fractional hadron momentum z. From the existing e+e- and e-p jet data, we obtain alpha_s(m_Z^2) = 0.1195 +/- 0.0021 (exp.) {+0.0015}_{-0.0} (scale) at the Z mass. The uncertainties of the extracted alpha_s value are discussed.
Collimation of energy in medium-modified QCD jets

The collimation of energy inside medium-modified jets is investigated in the leading logarithmic approximation of QCD. The Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi (DGLAP) evolution equations are slightly modified by introducing splitting functions enhanced in the infrared sector. As compared to elementary collisions in the vacuum, the angular distribution of the jet energy is found to broaden in QCD media.
Laboratory formation of a scaled protostellar jet by coaligned poloidal magnetic field

International audience; Although bipolar jets are seen emerging from a wide variety of astrophysical systems, the issue of their formation and morphology beyond their launching is still under study. Our scaled laboratory experiments, representative of young stellar object outflows, reveal that stable and narrow collimation of the entire flow can result from the presence of a poloidal magnetic field whose strength is consistent with observations. The laboratory plasma becomes focused with an interior cavity. This gives rise to a standing conical shock from which the jet emerges. Measurement of the production of charm jets tagged with D0 mesons in pp collisions at √s = 5.02 and 13 TeV

The measurement of the production of charm jets, identified by the presence of a D0 meson in the jet constituents, is presented in proton–proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of √s = 5.02 and 13 TeV with the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The D0 mesons were reconstructed from their hadronic decay D0 → K−π + and the respective charge conjugate. Jets were reconstructed from D0 -meson candidates and charged particles using the anti-kT algorithm, in the jet transverse momentum range 5 < pT,chjet < 50 GeV/c, pseudorapidity |ηjet| < 0.9 − R, and with the jet resolution parameters R = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6. Dijet studies with ALICE at the LHC

Relativistisissa hiukkastörmäyksissä syntyvistä suurenergisistä kvarkeista ja gluoneista, eli partoneista, muodostuvaa hyvin kollimoitunutta hiukkassuihkua kutsutaan jetiksi. Jettien tutkimusta on tehty jo vuosikaudet ja se hallitaan hyvin myös raskasionitörmäyksissä, joissa muodostuvaa kvarkkigluoniplasmaa on pystytty tutkimaan jettien liikemäärähäviöiden avulla. Tämän perusteella on huomattu, että kvarkkigluoniplasma jarruttaa sen läpi kulkevia suurenergisiä partoneita. Jettien lisäksi partonien energiahäviöitä raskasionitörmäyksessä on tutkittu myös dijettien avulla. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää julkishallinnossa toimivan case-organisaation budjetointiin liittyviä haasteita sekä löytää näihin haasteisiin ratkaisuja. Case-organisaatio on todella nuori, noin tuhat työntekijää työllistävä ICT-alalla toimiva asiantuntijaorganisaatio, jonka prosessit ovat vielä monilta osin kehitysvaiheessa. Yhdysvaltain ja Venäjän välisestä kauppavaihdosta 90-95 % kulki Itämeren satamien ja Juutinrauman kautta. Vertailuaineistonaan hän on päätynyt käyttämään Juutinrauman tullitilastoja, koska molempien maiden ulkomaankauppatilastoja pidetään itsessään vajavaisina.Ahonen etsi tullikirjoista amerikkalaiset alukset, joita lähes 80 vuoden aikana purjehti salmesta noin 9500.
