Novellisierte jüdische Schicksale im europäischen Osten: Arnold Zweigs Was der Mensch braucht (1937) und Ein Vorfaschist (1922)
2019
2020
The article aims to elucidate the role played by “race” in Nietzsche's writings. Nietzsche’s concept of “race” is analyzed and interpreted together with his lexicon of the transformation of the human being and his critique of culture. It is concluded that “race” has an unquestionable physiological and evolutionary character, but through the process of incorporation (Einverleibung), culture and morals intervene in a fundame…
Introducing Teenagers to a Dialogue with Judaism as the Task of School Catechesis
2014
This analysis proves that introducing teenagers to a dialogue with Judaism is one of catechesis’s tasks. This task has been outlined in the post-conciliar documents of the Catholic Church. It underlines the spiritual ties between Catholic people and the Jews and promotes forming an attitude of openness towards followers of the Mosaic religion. It also contributes to mitigating anti-Semitism among Catholic teenagers. At the same time, it raises interest in Jewish traditions and culture. In the religion syllabus in lower and post-secondary schools we can come across numerous references (mainly indirect) to Judaism. The focus on passing honest knowledge about Judaism can be also clearly visibl…

Religious believes versus cultural resource management: about the Medieval Jewish cemetery of Valencia (Spain)
2001
Archaeological heritage ownership is a controversial subject under the influence of both ethnic and religious claims. In 1996, a group of Jewish communities finally were able to interrupt the archaeological excavation under way at the medieval Jewish cemetery of Valencia. In this manner they did not allow the anthropological analysis of human remains recovered at the site that were reburied at the Jewish cemetery of Barcelona. Both administrations, local and regional, prioritized religious claims of the communities involved with respect to the archaeological heritage. As a consequence of a complaint filed by a group of citizens, the Síndic of Greuges of the Valencian Community (regional omb…
