The subject of the analysis is the sphere of media economization and specifically the problem of quality in journalism. The article tries to show that quality assurance in journalism is a task not only for authors, editorial teams, media companies, it is a social issue. The aim of the article is to indicate the most important dimensions and criteria of quality and to build a theoretical interpretation of quality management adequate to the work of journalists and the functioning of media organizations. La incorporación del periodismo digital en los planes de estudio de las Ciencias de la Comunicación es lenta. En este artículo se analiza el proceso de introducción de este contenido en Colombia. Se lleva a cabo un estudio de caso sobre el ciberdiario De la Urbe Digital, experiencia llevada a cabo en la Universidad de Antioquia, en Medellín (Colombia), que permitió a los estudiantes universitarios de Pregrado llevar a la práctica los contenidos teóricos que estaban recibiendo. Pese a la tradición de periodismo en papel que prevalece en algunos entornos universitarios, el caso que analizamos refleja propuestas metodológicas innovadoras.
