The paper is an attempt at clarifying the object of research into media genology, distancing itself from literary studies genology. In the era of convergence of mass media, we can observe a progress in the blurring of the border between information and journalism, which consequently changes the contemporary communicative convention. This paper is concerned with the apparent absence of a ‘systemic address’ for the functional category irrealis in grammatical descriptions of English, Danish and German within the framework of systemic functional linguistics (SFL). Based on a thorough discussion of our understanding of this functional grammatical concept, we present a summary of the lexicogrammatical potential of irrealis in English, Danish and German. By comparing and contrasting the three languages, we find among them equivalent connections to other grammatical systems. This article examines the organisation of VOX, a new radical right party in Spain. It shows that the party has taken early and uneven steps to build a mass organisation and initially opted for open membership recruitment with participatory organisational elements. Also, the party’s rapid growth and quick entrance into political institutions at different state levels led the party leadership to establish more centralised control and limit members’ prerogatives, though recruitment continued. In contemporary working life, journalists are often faced with the pressures of an increasingly precarious field where employment is less stable and more contractual than in previous years. Consequently, learning as a skill has grown in importance as journalists enter and leave the job market. Previous research has often portrayed professional journalists as unwilling to learn due to the persistence of the institution of journalism. Kansanmusiikki on perinteisesti ollut koko kansan musiikkia, mutta sen asema ja näkyvyys on vaihdellut eri aikakausina. Tämä tutkimus kuvailee, millainen kansanmusiikin asema ja näkyvyys on nykyään suomalaisessa sanomalehdessä: millaiset kansanmusiikkiaiheet pääsevät julkisuuteen ja millaisia juttutyyppejä kansanmusiikkikirjoituksista löytyy. Tutkimuksen materiaalina ovat kansanmusiikkikirjoitukset Helsingin Sanomissa ja Keskipohjanmaassa 1.1.–30.6.2007 ja 1.1.–30.6.2009 sekä molempien lehtien kulttuuritoimittajien haastattelut. Vēstuļu dienasgrāmatu izmantošana skolēnu rakstīšanas prasmju attīstībai angļu valodā 7. klasē

Diplomdarbā tika pētīta 7. klases skolēnu rakstīšanas prasmju attīstība angļu valodā, izmantojot vēstuļu dienasgrāmatas. Vispirms, lai noskaidrotu, kā skolēni vērtē savu rakstītprasmi un rakstīšanas procesu, tika izveidota pašvērtējuma anketa. Pēc tam skolēnu rakstītās vēstules tika analizētas, meklējot liecības par mācīšanās procesu. Visbeidzot tika veikta eksperta intervija ar skolotāju, kura pielietoja iepriekšminēto metodi savā pedagoģiskajā darbībā. Tika noskaidrots, ka vēstuļu dienasgrāmatas var tikt izmantotas, lai attīstītu rakstīšanas prasmi angļu valodā, jo šī metode dod iespēju skolēniem regulāri praktizēt rakstīšanu.
