Tutkielma käsittelee Suomen EU-jäsenyydestä käytyä eduskunnan lähetekeskustelua 6.– 7.9.1994 ja siinä käytettyä retoriikkaa. Lähtökohdan keskustelussa käytetyn retoriikan tutkimiselle antaa paradiastole-figuuri, joka merkitsee uudelleenmäärittelyn tekniikoita. Tutkielman tehtävänä on arvioida lähetekeskustelun argumentteja ja niissä tapahtuvaa uudelleenmäärittelyä parlamentaarisen retoriikan tutkimisen näkökulmasta. Paradiastole-figuurin käsitteellistämisessä ovat keskeisessä osassa muun muassa Quentin Skinnerin tutkimukset. Tässä tutkimuksessa olen tarkastellut sitä, millaisia identiteettejä humanisteille rakentuu kahdessa www.suomi24.fi-verkkosivuston keskustelufoorumin keskusteluketjussa. Aihe on yhä ajankohtainen ja merkittävä, sillä vuoden 2010 yliopistolakiuudistus ja vuoden 2008 lama eivät mielestäni voi olla vaikuttamatta siihen, miten humanistit kokevat merkityksensä akateemisessa ympäristössä tai työmarkkinoilla. Tutkimukseni on kriittistä diskurssintutkimusta, jonka mukaan kieli, sosiaalinen maailma ja sen valtarakenteet ovat tiukasti sidoksissa toisiinsa. The Structure of Group Identification

The concept of group identification has been widely discussed in the fields of social psychology and social ontology. The debate has been somewhat unbalanced, however. The structure, nature, and experiential status of groups have been assessed widely and from several perspectives. Instead, the concept of identification as received considerably less attention. This is why the ongoing debate threatens to be misled by various conceptual ambiguities. These ambiguities concern first and foremost the target, structure, and temporal nature of identification. Empowering New Agents of Civil Society or Fostering Good Citizens? Framing Youth Participation in Finnish Youth Organizations

ABSTRACTThis article investigates how nationwide Finnish youth civil society organizations frame their approaches to youth participation. By analyzing data from interviews, websites, and annual reports, five frames are identified. The frames differ in how they define the purpose of participation, whom they see as the main actors, and what kind of member, volunteer, or other participant roles they provide to young people. Three frames are used as master frames that see young people as agents, learners, or targets of support; two subordinate frames expand the scopes of the organizations. Only some of the frames include any concept of integrating young people into the civil society.

Yhdistyneiden kuningaskuntien kansanäänestys Euroopan Unionista lähtemiseksi kesäkuussa 2016 oli monella tavalla järisyttävä, jopa odottamaton, tapahtuma. Yleisenä oletuksena oli, että vuoden 1975 kansanäänestyksen tulos toistuisi ja Yhdistyneet kuningaskunnat pysyisivät edelleen Euroopan Unionin jäsenmaana maassa pitkään vallinneesta euroskeptisyydestä huolimatta. “I Am Your Fan; Bookmarked!” Members’ Identification Development in Founder-Led Online Communities

In this study, we present the findings from an inductive and interpretive case study of a founder-led online community (OC), exploring how members’ identification develops within the community over time. Using a longitudinal study of an OC that was founded by a reputable individual, it is shown that members were first attracted to the OC through their affective and cognitive identification with the founder; however, over time, they developed identification through social interaction with other members.
