The health effects of regular physical activity play an integral part in the promotion of outdoor participation. Well-maintained and marketed outdoor facilities encourage in this regard people to be more active outside of their homes. The aim of this study is to analyse popular German outdoor facilities in order to identify good working practices in Germany that can potentially be applied in Finland with the purpose of encouraging Finnish people to go outdoors more often. Anthropogenic changes to land use drive concomitant changes in biodiversity, including that of the soil microbiota. However, it is not clear how increasing intensity of human disturbance is reflected in the soil microbial communities. Kansallispuistojen perustaminen on keskeinen osa luonnonsuojelun historiaa Suomessa. Tarkoituksenani on selvittää kansallispuistojen kehitystä ja erityisesti niiden perustamisprosessia Keski-Suomessa. Tutkimuksessa keskitytään Pyhä-Häkin, Salamajärven, Isojärven ja Leivonmäen kansallispuistoihin. Lähestymistapani pohjaa ympäristöhistoriaan, eli otan huomioon tutkimuksessa ihmisen ja ympäristön suhteen. Ensimmäiset kansallispuistot perustettiin Suomeen vuonna 1938. In recent decades, Norway spruce (Picea abies L. Karst.) forests of the High Tatra Mountains have suffered unprecedented tree mortality caused by European spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus L.). Analysis of the spatiotemporal pattern of bark beetle outbreaks across the landscape in consecutive years can provide new insights into the population dynamics of tree-killing insects. A bark beetle outbreak occurred in the High Tatra Mountains after a storm damaged more than 10,000 ha of forests in 2004.
