Discussions revolving around cyborgs seldom include aesthetics, let alone propose aesthetics as an inextricable part of the phenomenon of the cyborg. Rather, the term “cyborg”, a contraction of “cybernetic organism”, evokes a figure of the (hu)man- machine. In the field of social and political sciences, the cyborg is designated a human-machine hybrid, a metaphor of humans becoming machinelike, or a portrait of (political) agency in an era of high technology. Tutkielman tavoitteena on tarkastella, millaisia vierassanoja käytetään suomalaisessa naistenlehdessä. Näkökulmina ovat lainasanojen rakenne, niiden sisältämät konsonanttiyhtymät, ääntäminen ja oikeinkirjoitus sekä etenkin se, mitä uutta ja suomen kielelle vierasta niihin sisältyy. Aineisto koostuu yleisnimistä, jotka on kerätty muutamista Kauneus ja terveys -lehden numeroista vuosilta 2007 ja 2009. Lisäksi tutkielmaan sisältyy pieni vertailuaineisto numerosta 5/2000. Varsinaista aineistoa on 478 sanaa ja vertailuaineistoa 127 sanaa. Aineistossa on sekä sitaatti- että erikoislainoja, jotka ovat yksiosaisia, yhdyssanoja tai sanaliittoja.
