The Effects of Positive and Negative Emotions During Online Shopping Episodes on Consumer Satisfaction, Repurchase Intention, and Recommendation Inte…
2019
The aim of this study is to examine the emotions that consumers experience during their online shopping episodes as well as their effects on consumer satisfaction and two types of post-purchase behavioural intentions: repurchase and recommendation intentions. By hypothesising a research model and testing it with the data from 1,786 Finnish online shoppers, which was collected in co-operation with 18 Finnish online stores between September 2018 and December 2018 and is analysed by using structural equation modelling (SEM), the study makes several interesting findings. First, we find positive emotions to have stronger effects in comparison to negative emotions. Second, we also find that where…

UML Artefacts for a Blockchain-enabled Platform for Fairtrade
2021
Fairtrade-certified products have successfully entered the mainstream distribution channels mostly in developed countries, and these products are now sold in famous supermarket chains. Nonetheless, the packaging and labeling of products as “Fairtrade” commands premium pricing in the marketplace. How much of this, however, is valid and justified? Despite the reputable certification mechanisms for quality assurance, mass media reports suggest that much of the “surplus value” goes to the accreditation agencies themselves instead of the producers. This article proposes an agenda to set this right with a blockchain platform that provides “trust-free” assurances of verifiable labeling. Using an A…
Paths to purchase : the role of the online environment and the fluctuation of customer brand engagement
2016
Customers´ paths to purchase are constantly developing due to digitalization. Online channels enable customers to guide their own decision processes more than ever. When understanding the complex buying journeys, companies can gain competitive advantage. Another current and interesting phenomena in the field of marketing lies in a fairly new concept called customer brand engagement (CBE). The nature of CBE has been studied to some extent, but further research is needed, especially on fluctuation, since most research focuses on observing CBE levels during a specific context and time. The aim of this research is to create insight into the customer decision-making process and CBE. The focus is…
Empiirinen tutkimus brändikokemuksen vaikutuksesta verkkokauppaympäristöjen käyttäjäkokemukseen ja käyttöaikeeseen
2015
Tutkielmassa tarkasteltiin brändikokemuksen vaikutusta verkkokauppaympäristöjen käyttäjäkokemukseen ja käyttöaikeeseen. Brändikokemusta tarkasteltiin kahden ulottuvuuden kautta: brändityytyväisyyden ja brändiluottamuksen. Käyttäjäkokemusta tarkasteltiin käytännöllisten (frustraation, kompetenssin ja hallinnan tunteen) ja esteettisten (kauneuden ja mielikuvituksettomuuden) tunteiden näkökulmista. Brändikokemuksen vaikutusta verkkokauppaympäristöjen käyttäjäkokemukseen ja käyttöaikeeseen tutkittiin kahdessa kokeellisessa tutkimuksessa. Tutkimukset toteutettiin osana Jyväskylän yliopiston käyttäjäpsykologian laboratoriossa tehtyä verkkokauppaympäristöjen käyttäjäkokemusta käsittelevää tutkimus…
Assessing preferences and motivations for owning exotic pets : Care matters
2023
Understanding drivers of demand for exotic pets may help inform adequate conservation strategies to address unsustainable trade. Here, we used a best-worst scaling approach to understand the variety of preferences and motivations for owning exotic pets. Respondents (316 from 33 countries) preferred exotic pets that were captive-bred, had rare aesthetic features, and were common in the wild and abundant in the market. Species that were at risk of extinction, in short supply, sourced from the wild, and under trade restrictions were the least favoured by respondents. Feelings of care, such as attachment, affection, nurture, as well as curiosity and being passionate about the species, were domi…
Business schools’ competitive strategies : whose goals, which aims?
2019
Purpose This study reviews the literature on business-school (b-school) competition and competitiveness to extend our understanding of b-schools’ competitive strategies. Design/methodology/approach Both content and network analysis were used in the examination of the scholarly discourse. Findings The analyses distinguish three literature streams. The first concentrates on resources, capabilities and competencies; the second focuses on measures of competitiveness; and the third includes competitive dynamics and strategy discourse. The analysis shows that the conceptions of competitiveness are quite coherent concerning resources, capabilities and competencies. However, in the “measures of com…
Essays on current account imbalances
2017
Global current account imbalances and intra-euro area imbalances have been at the forefront of academic and policy debates for the last ten years. This thesis examines the determinants of current account balances and external adjustment. It consists of an introduction and four empirical studies. This thesis highlights the importance of institutional factors such as differences in national cultures and cross-country differences in the coordination of wage bargaining on external balances. The first study investigates the effects of deep determinants on current account balances. The point estimates are economically and statistically significant, suggesting that countries populated by Roman Cat…
The role of sustainability in online customer experiences : a qualitative study on female fashion shoppers
2022
This qualitative study aims to understand sustainability’s role in responsible consumers’ Online Customer Experiences (OCEs). In this study, we focus on female fashion shoppers, and study three dimensions of their OCE: cognitive, affective, and social. Although online shopping and responsible consumer behaviour have increased tremendously, sustainability’s role in OCE has not been studied before from the customer’s perspective. The data consists of nine semi-structural interviews of Finnish female self-proclaimed responsible consumers and is analyzed with qualitative content analysis. The findings show that sustainability issues are present in all OCE dimensions, which are also all intercon…
