This research instrument was developed for a study on the uncertainty experienced by language raters and the impact of uncertainty on the quality of assessment in the official language examination, the National Certificates of Language Proficiency. The instrument consists of three online questionnaires using Webropol software and a note-taking sheet using Excel spreadsheet software. This paper presents a descriptive and comparative study of existential sentences in Flemish Sign Language and Finnish Sign Language. Existential sentences are used to express the existence or presence of something or someone. This study investigates how expressions of existence or presence are constructed and what the order of Figure and Ground is in existential sentences in both languages. Existential sentences can be formed around the lexical signs HEEFT (‘have’) in Flemish Sign Language and OLLA (‘have’) in Finnish Sign Language or the lexical signs can be omitted from the construction. Tutkimuksessani tarkastelen lyhytaikaisen ulkomailla oleskelun vaikutuksia viiteen suomalaiseen alakouluikäiseen oppilaaseen. Oppilaiden kokemukset karttuivat Comenius projektissa EU ja minä. Kaikki viisi haastateltua lasta olivat oppilaina samassa Pohjois-Pohjanmaalla sijaitsevassa koulussa, ja osallistuivat samoille kolmeen eri EU-maahan suuntautuneille opintomatkoille. Kaikki oppilaat matkustivat oppilasparin kanssa, ja kokivat samantyyppisiä tapahtumia. The aim of this study is to explore rater effects, such as consistency and severity of the judgements of 12 expert judges, and to report the extent of assessment criteria used by them. The data of the study are based on the three different phases of the standardization procedure which were analyzed using the MFRM model. In addition, feedback gathered from the expert judges was used to find out their opinions about the procedure and to validate the results of the standardization. The aim of the study is to explore situational, cultural and pragmatic factors that might trigger code-switching during informal conversations outside of the classroom at school among bilingual adolescents in Haparanda, Helsinki and Stockholm. An attempt is made to clarify different functions of code-switching, i.e. why bilingual adolescents code-switch from Swedish to Finnish and vice versa. The conversational data, consisting of video-recorded group and pair conversations, was collected in 2014–2015 at six junior high schools in Haparanda, Helsinki and Stockholm. Tämän maisteritutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää kaksikielisen perheen kielellisiä toimintaperiaatteita kahtena eri ajankohtana ja millaisia muutoksia kielellisissä toimintaperiaatteissa on todettavissa ajan kuluessa. Erityisenä kiinnostuksen kohteena on sisarusten kielenkäyttö. Tutkimus toteutettiin kahdessa ajanjaksossa. Ensimmäisenä yhdeksän kuukauden ajanjaksona tutkimusaineisto kerättiin haastattelujen ja useamman havainnoinnin avulla. Toinen ajankohta ulottuu viiden- kuuden vuoden päähän ensimmäisestä tutkimusjaksosta, jolloin materiaali kerättiin kirjallisen haastattelun muodossa.
