Profiles of reading and fluency and spelling skills : stability and change across the early school years

In this longitudinal study, we examined what kind of profiles of reading fluency and spelling skills could be identified among pupils (N = 467) and how stable these profiles were during the first three years of school. We also investigated how monolingual (Swedish) and simultaneously bilingual (Finnish-Swedish) pupils and gender were distributed within the profiles. Three profiles of reading fluency and spelling skills were found among the pupils through latent profile analysis: low, average, and high performing. Maisterintutkielmassani selvitän, missä määrin yhdyssanat kirjoitetaan erilleen ruotsinkielisillä keskustelufoorumeilla. Lisäksi tutkin, onko koko yhdyssanan ja sen määriteosan sanaluokalla vaikutusta yhdyssanojen erilleen kirjoittamiseen. Lopuksi tarkastelen selvästi englannin kielestä vaikutteita saaneiden yhdyssanojen kirjoitusasua. Tutkimusmateriaalin olen kerännyt verkkosivujen www.flashback.org ja www.familjeliv.se keskustelufoorumeilta, ja se käsittää400 sattumanvaraisesti valittua puheenvuoroa. In this article, I shall examine how the personal names of the Finnish-speaking population of rural Finland, who themselves were generally unable to write, were written in Swedish equivalents in various documents in the 18th and 19th centuries, and how this influenced the formation of their identities. The advent of laws governing language towards the end of the 19th and in the early 20th century was manifested in official documents in which the authorities gradually started to write personal names in Finnish. Yksi suurimmista haasteista nykypäivän peruskoulussa ovat oppilaiden erilaiset oppimisvaikeudet. Tutkimusten mukaan jopa 80 % oppimisvaikeustapauksista taustalla on dysleksia, jossa oppilaalla on vaikeuksia niin teknisessä lukemisessa kuin oman kirjoittamisensa hallinnassa. Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena on vastata niihin haasteisiin, joita dysleksiasta kärsivien oppilaiden opettamisessa esiintyy.
