JH-Operators and Occasionally Weakly g-Biased Pairs in Fuzzy Symmetric Spaces

2013

We introduce the notions of $\mathcal{JH}$-operators and occasionally weakly $g$-biased mappings in fuzzy symmetric spaces to prove common fixed point theorems for self-mappings satisfying a generalized mixed contractive condition. We also prove analogous results for two pairs of $\mathcal{JH}$-operators by assuming symmetry only on the set of points of coincidence. These results unify, extend and complement many results existing in the recent literature. We give also an application of our results to product spaces.

Symmetric (79, 27, 9)-designs Admitting a Faithful Action of a Frobenius Group of Order 39

1997

AbstractIn this paper we present the classification of symmetric designs with parameters (79, 27, 9) on which a non-abelian group of order 39 acts faithfully. In particular, we show that such a group acts semi-standardly with 7 orbits. Using the method of tactical decompositions, we are able to construct exactly 1320 non-isomorphic designs. The orders of the full automorphism groups of these designs all divide 8 · 3 · 13.

Unified Metrical Common Fixed Point Theorems in 2-Metric Spaces via an Implicit Relation

2013

We prove some common fixed point theorems for two pairs of weakly compatible mappings in 2-metric spaces via an implicit relation. As an application to our main result, we derive Bryant's type generalized fixed point theorem for four finite families of self-mappings which can be utilized to derive common fixed point theorems involving any finite number of mappings. Our results improve and extend a host of previously known results. Moreover, we study the existence of solutions of a nonlinear integral equation.

Norm, essential norm and weak compactness of weighted composition operators between dual Banach spaces of analytic functions

2017

Abstract In this paper we estimate the norm and the essential norm of weighted composition operators from a large class of – non-necessarily reflexive – Banach spaces of analytic functions on the open unit disk into weighted type Banach spaces of analytic functions and Bloch type spaces. We also show the equivalence of compactness and weak compactness of weighted composition operators from these weighted type spaces into a class of Banach spaces of analytic functions, that includes a large family of conformally invariant spaces like BMOA and analytic Besov spaces.

Semi-compatible and reciprocally continuous maps in weak non-Archimedean Menger PM-spaces

2012

In this paper, we introduce semi-compatible maps and reciprocally continuous maps in weak non-Archimedean PM-spaces and establish a common fixed point theorem for such maps. Moreover, we show that, in the context of reciprocal continuity, the notions of compatibility and semi-compatibility of maps become equivalent. Our result generalizes several fixed point theorems in the sense that all maps involved in the theorem can be discontinuous even at the common fixed point.

Common fixed points of generalized contractions on partial metric spaces and an application

2011

Abstract In this paper, common fixed point theorems for four mappings satisfying a generalized nonlinear contraction type condition on partial metric spaces are proved. Presented theorems extend the very recent results of I. Altun, F. Sola and H. Simsek [Generalized contractions on partial metric spaces, Topology and its applications 157 (18) (2010) 2778–2785]. As application, some homotopy results for operators on a set endowed with a partial metric are given.

On the equivalence of McShane and Pettis integrability in non-separable Banach spaces

2009

Abstract We show that McShane and Pettis integrability coincide for functions f : [ 0 , 1 ] → L 1 ( μ ) , where μ is any finite measure. On the other hand, assuming the Continuum Hypothesis, we prove that there exist a weakly Lindelof determined Banach space X, a scalarly null (hence Pettis integrable) function h : [ 0 , 1 ] → X and an absolutely summing operator u from X to another Banach space Y such that the composition u ○ h : [ 0 , 1 ] → Y is not Bochner integrable; in particular, h is not McShane integrable.

Fixed point theorems for non-self mappings in symmetric spaces under φ-weak contractive conditions and an application to functional equations in dyna…

2014

In this paper, we prove some common fixed point theorems for two pairs of non-self weakly compatible mappings enjoying common limit range property, besides satisfying a generalized phi-weak contractive condition in symmetric spaces. We furnish some illustrative examples to highlight the realized improvements in our results over the corresponding relevant results of the existing literature. We extend our main result to four finite families of mappings in symmetric spaces using the notion of pairwise commuting mappings. Finally, we utilize our results to discuss the existence and uniqueness of solutions of certain system of functional equations arising in dynamic programming.

On operator valued sequences of multipliers and R-boundedness

AbstractIn recent papers (cf. [J.L. Arregui, O. Blasco, (p,q)-Summing sequences, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 274 (2002) 812–827; J.L. Arregui, O. Blasco, (p,q)-Summing sequences of operators, Quaest. It has been shown that some geometric properties of Banach spaces and some classical theorems can be described using spaces of (p,q)-summing multipliers. The p…

Countable connected spaces and bunches of arcs in R3

2006

Abstract We investigate the images (also called quotients) of countable connected bunches of arcs in R 3 , obtained by shrinking the arcs to points (see Section 2 for definitions of new terms). First, we give an intrinsic description of such images among T 1 -spaces: they are precisely countable and weakly first countable spaces. Moreover, an image is first countable if and only if it can be represented as a quotient of another bunch with its projection hereditarily quotient (Theorem 2.7). Applying this result we see, for instance, that two classical countable connected T 2 -spaces—the Bing space [R.H. Bing, A connected countable Hausdorff space, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 4 (1953) 474], and th…
