Fibered aspects of Yoneda's regular span

In this paper we start by pointing out that Yoneda's notion of a regular span $S \colon \mathcal{X} \to \mathcal{A} \times \mathcal{B}$ can be interpreted as a special kind of morphism, that we call fiberwise opfibration, in the 2-category $\mathsf{Fib}(\mathcal{A})$. We study the relationship between these notions and those of internal opfibration and two-sided fibration. A closed formula for the evaluation of foams

International audience; We give a purely combinatorial formula for evaluating closed, decorated foams. Our evaluation gives an integral polynomial and is directly connected to an integral, equivariant version of colored Khovanov-Rozansky link homology categorifying the sl(N) link polynomial. We also provide connections to the equivariant cohomology rings of partial flag varieties.

Different operational meanings of continuous variable Gaussian entanglement criteria and Bell inequalities

Entanglement, one of the most intriguing aspects of quantum mechanics, marks itself into different features of quantum states. For this reason different criteria can be used for verifying entanglement. In this paper we review some of the entanglement criteria casted for continuous variable states and link them to peculiar aspects of the original debate on the famous EPR paradox. Moreover, we give a handy expression for valuating Bell-type non-locality on Gaussian states. We also present the experimental measurement of a particular realization of the Bell operator over continuous variable entangled states produced by a sub-threshold type-II OPO.

Hidden entanglement, system-environment information flow and non-Markovianity

2014

It is known that entanglement dynamics of two noninteracting qubits, locally subjected to classical environments, may exhibit revivals. A simple explanation of this phenomenon may be provided by using the concept of hidden entanglement, which signals the presence of entanglement that may be recovered without the help of nonlocal operations. Here we discuss the link between hidden entanglement and the (non-Markovian) flow of classical information between the system and the environment.

A preliminary comparison between finite element and meshless simulations of extrusion

In this paper the extrusion process of a cross-shaped profile was investigated. In particular, the study was focused on the distortion of extruding profiles when the workpiece and die axis are not aligned. The process was simulated using the finite element method (FEM) and the natural element method (NEM), both implemented in an updated-Lagrangian formulation, in order to avoid the burden associated with the description of free surfaces in ALE or Eulerian formulations. Beyond the triangle and uniqueness relations: non-zeta counterterms at large $N$ from positive knots

Counterterms that are not reducible to ζn are generated by 3F2 hypergeometric series arising from diagrams for which triangle and uniqueness relations furnish insufficient data. Irreducible double sums, corresponding to the torus knots (4, 3) = 819 and (5, 3) = 10124, are found in anomalous dimensions at O(1/N 3) in the large-N limit, which we compute analytically up to terms of level 11, corresponding to 11 loops for 4-dimensional field theories and 12 loops for 2-dimensional theories. High-precision numerical results are obtained up to 24 loops and used in Pade resummations of e-expansions, which are compared with analytical results in 3 dimensions. Split extensions, semidirect product and holomorph of categorical groups

Working in the context of categorical groups, we show that the semidirect product provides a biequivalence between actions and points. From this biequivalence, we deduce a two-dimensional classification of split extensions of categorical groups, as well as the universal property of the holomorph of a categorical group. We also discuss the link between the holomorph and inner autoequivalences.

The nearest X-ray emitting protostellar jet observed with HST

The HH 154 jet coming from the YSO binary L1551 IRS5 is one of the closest (about 150 pc) astrophysical jet known. It is therefore a unique laboratory for studies of outflow mechanisms and of the shocks forming at the interaction front between the expanding material and the ambient medium. The substructures (knots) observed within the HH 154 jet were imaged in several spectral bands using the Hubble Space Telescope. This allows us to derive a simple characterization of the physical conditions in different structures as well as to measure the proper motion of the knots in the jet, their flux variability and shock emission over a time base of about ten years.
