Genotype determining aerobic exercise capacity associates with behavioral plasticity in middle-aged rats

Good aerobic fitness associates positively with cognitive performance and brain health and conversely, low aerobic fitness predisposes to neurodegenerative diseases. To study how genotype together with exercise, started at older age, affects brain and behavior, we utilized rats that differ in inherited aerobic fitness. Cognitive sociology has been split into cultural and interdisciplinary traditions that position themselves differently in relation to the cognitive sciences and make incompatible assumptions about cognition. This article provides an analysis and assessment of the cognitive and methodological assumptions of these two traditions from the perspective of the mechanistic theory of explanation. Tässä tutkielmassa käsittelen plurilingvaalisten henkilöiden kokemuksia siitä, miten heidän osaamansa kielet esiintyvät heidän arkiajattelussaan. Pyrin esimerkiksi selvittämään, missä tilanteissa ja miten plurilingvaaliset henkilöt kokevat vaihtavansa ajattelukieltään, miten henkilöt tiedostavat ajattelukielen vaihtumisen, sekä minkälaisia ilmiöitä plurilingvaaliseen arkiajatteluun liittyy. Musiikillinen rakenne soivana hahmona

Tässä tutkielmassa tuodaan yhteen erilaisia näkökulmia 1900-luvun musiikkianalyysin ja kognitiivisen musiikintutkimuksen piiristä. Näiden näkökulmien kautta pyritään muodostamaan teoreettinen viitekehys äänen ja sen havainnoinnin geometriseen mallintamiseen pohjautuvalle tutkimusasetelmalle. Tämä viitekehys pyrkii tuomaan yhteen hahmontunnistusta ja ei- sävelrakennekeskeistä musiikkianalyysiä. Lopuksi esitellään luonnos geometriseen mallintamiseen pohjautuvasta systemaattisesta mallista, jonka avulla musiikkia voidaan analysoida ajassa muuntuvana hahmona. Tämä luonnos on tarkoitettu myöhemmän tutkimuksen pohjamateriaaliksi, ei niinkään käytettäväksi työkaluksi.

This critical literature review traces the roots of how adult cognitive development and learning are conceptualised. It addresses some implicitly included historical and philosophical concepts, analysing especially the concept of change, and ontological assumptions included in the Piagetian and neo-Piagetian “postformal thinking” traditions.
