AI-enabled adaptive learning systems: A systematic mapping of the literature
2021
Abstract Mobile internet, cloud computing, big data technologies, and significant breakthroughs in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have all transformed education. In recent years, there has been an emergence of more advanced AI-enabled learning systems, which are gaining traction due to their ability to deliver learning content and adapt to the individual needs of students. Yet, even though these contemporary learning systems are useful educational platforms that meet students’ needs, there is still a low number of implemented systems designed to address the concerns and problems faced by many students. Based on this perspective, a systematic mapping of the literature on AI-enabled adaptive le…
A Hybrid Algorithm Based on WiFi for Robust and Effective Indoor Positioning
2019
Indoor positioning based on the Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) protocol and the Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR) approach is widely exploited because of the existing WiFi infrastructure in buildings and the advancement of built-in smartphone sensors. In this work, a hybrid algorithm that combines WiFi fingerprinting and PDR to both exploit their advantages as well as limiting the impact of their disadvantages is proposed. Specifically, to build a probability map from noisy Received Signal Strength (RSS), a Gaussian Process (GP) regression is deployed to estimate and construct the RSS fingerprints with incomplete data. Mean and variance of generated points are used to estimate WiFi fingerprinting p…
Achieving agility and quality in product development -an empirical study of hardware startups
2020
Context: Startups aim at scaling their business, often by developing innovative products with limited human and financial resources. The development of software products in the startup context is known as opportunistic, agility-driven, and with high tolerance for technical debt. The special context of hardware startups calls for a better understanding of state-of-the-practice of hardware startups’ activities. Objective: This study aimed to identify whether and how startups can achieve product quality while maintaining focus on agility. Method: We conducted an exploratory study with 13 hardware startups, collecting data through semi-structured interviews and analysis of documentation. We pro…
Investigative decision making : the use of storytelling in e-learning for training police students
2019
Master's thesis Multimedia and Educational Technology MM500 - University of Agder 2019 Purpose–“E-learning is not intended to replace the traditional classroom setting, but to provide new opportunities for interaction and communication between students and instructor or teacher” (Zhang et al., 2004). The thesis aimed at discussing this phrase as the major problem statement.Design/methodology/approach–For this research, case study research method with the InstructionalDesign (ID) process was the chosen design and method for designing and consequently developing an e-learning solution. The case study research method with the ID process was found to support the design and development of a succ…

Nasjonalt innført! Nasjonalt behov? : Eksperter i et innbyggerpanels forventninger og opplevelser til Nasjonal kjernejournal – Et Delphistudie
2017
Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI500 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 Technology plays a part in nearly every aspect of life. Electronic self-services such as online banking, control of tax returns, or application for construction permits are daily events unfolding online. Health services are coming along, and their last addition is the national medical core journal. Based on numbers that indicate a low utilization, full adoption by the citizens of the solution seems absent. The purpose of this study is to research what expectations and experiences the citizens have to the national medical core journal. The issue for the study is, "What are the most important factors to contribute…
A Novel Optimization for GPU Mining Using Overclocking and Undervolting
2022
Cryptography and associated technologies have existed for a long time. This field is advancing at a remarkable speed. Since the inception of its initial application, blockchain has come a long way. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency based on blockchain, also known as distributed ledger technology (DLT). The most well-known cryptocurrency for everyday use is Bitcoin, which debuted in 2008. Its success ushered in a digital revolution, and it currently provides security, decentralization, and a reliable data transport and storage mechanism to various industries and companies. Governments and developing enterprises seeking a competitive edge have expressed interest in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencie…
Time-Frequency Characteristics of In-Home Radio Channels Influenced by Activities of the Home Occupant
2019
While aging is a serious global concern, in-home healthcare monitoring solutions are limited to context-aware systems and wearable sensors, which may easily be forgotten or ignored for privacy and comfort reasons. An emerging non-wearable fall detection approach is based on processing radio waves reflected off the body, who has no active interaction with the system. This paper reports on an indoor radio channel measurement campaign at 5.9 GHz, which has been conducted to study the impact of fall incidents and some daily life activities on the temporal and spectral properties of the indoor channel under both line-of-sight (LOS) and obstructed-LOS (OLOS) propagation conditions. The time-frequ…

Masteroppgave helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI500 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 Background: In many countries, patient access to electronic health records (PAEHR), have been or are about to be introduced. So also, in Norway. One hopes that this will increase patient ́s involvement in their own health. Aim:This study aims to learn about doctor ́s experience with PAEHR after three years in a hospital in Norway.Selection and method:This is a qualitative study where eight doctors have been interviewed about their experience with PAEHR. The analysis has been done with the help of “technological frames” as a means to understand information technology and how people interact with it. Result:The stud…
