In Finland, curriculum design is allegedly carried out through a deliberative process that involves various stakeholders, interest groups, experts and ordinary citizens. To facilitate participation in curriculum design, online crowdsourcing has been applied. AbstractThe study aims to gain a better understanding on how curriculum making regulated by reform’s implementation strategy contributes to teachers’ and teacher communities perceived curriculum coherence, and further to the impact that reform has on school development. Erityisopetuksena tunnettu perusopetuksen keskeinen toimintamalli on ollut voimallisten muutosten kohteena 1990-luvun lopulta aina näihin päiviin saakka. Vuoden 1998 perusopetuslain myötä alkanut asteittaisten uudistusten sarja kulminoitui vuonna 2011 voimaan tulleisiin perusopetuslain muutoksiin ja oppimisen ja koulunkäynnin tuen järjestelmän toimeenpanoon. School Tracking and Mental Health

We examine the effects of a comprehensive school reform on mental health. The reform postponed the tracking of students into vocational and academic schools from age 11 to age 16. The reform was implemented gradually across Finnish municipalities between 1972 and 1977. We use difference-in-differences variation and administrative data. Our results show that there is no discernible effect on mental health related hospitalizations on average even though the effect is precisely estimated. Heterogeneity analysis shows that, after the reform, females from highly-educated families were more likely to be hospitalized for depression. nonPeerReviewed

Since 2016, all new schools incorporate open and flexible design, at least to some extent. 1960-luvulla suomalainen koulujärjestelmä oli muutosten kourissa. Kansakoulun ja oppikoulun muodostama rinnakkaiskoulujärjestelmä korvautui 1970-luvun kuluessa vaiheittain yleisellä ja yhtäläisellä peruskoululla.
