AbstractLeptin, a hormone produced by adipose tissue, has been linked to many regulatory pathways. Its role in the complex relationship between obesity and CVD is not yet clear. The aim of the present study was to evaluate whether leptin interferes directly with cardiac function regulation, altering its contractile force character, and hence contributing to different pathological processes. Pro gradu -tutkielmani aineena on lajityyppien intertekstuaalinen analyysi Kristina Carlsonin romaanista Maan ääreen (1999). Tarkastelen romaania ja siitä kirjoitettua kymmentä kirjallisuusarvostelua, joiden mukaan teoksesta on löydettävissä useita eri genrejä. Selvitän, ilmenevätkö kirjallisuusarvosteluissa esitetyt lajit Maan ääreen -romaanissa, ja jos ilmenevät, niin millä tavoin. Tutkin myös minkälaista lisätietoa romaanin lajipiirteiden tarkastelu tuotaa teoksesta ja siitä kirjoitetuista kirjallisuusarvosteluista. In this protein family, the subgroup of pheromone-binding proteins (PBPs) is specifically tuned to the perception of the sexual pheromone. To date, the description of OBPs has been restricted to Endopterygota and Paraneoptera. Their expression in Orthopteroid has been hypothesized, but no evidence of OBP has been produced in this assemblage to date. A group of seven resorcinarene bis-crown ethers (CNBC5) with two polyether bridges at the upper rim and either propyl, butyl, pentyl, heptyl, nonyl, decyl or undecyl groups at the lower rim were synthesized and their binding properties with Cs+ were investigated by NMR titration. The bis-crowns form 1:2 complexes with Cs+ with binding constants of logK 4–5. Crystal structures of bis-crowns and their Cs+ and K+ complexes were studied and different packing motifs were found depending on the alkyl chain length. The structure of the thread-hairs on the cerci of the cockroach Periplaneta american during the intermoult phase has been investigated by scanning and transmission electron microscopy. The present study demonstrates that to each thread-hair belong one sensory cell, two glial cells, and three enveloping cells. Darbā aprakstīta triju mezglu bojājumpiecietīgas virtuālo serveru izmitināšanas vides izveide, kas sevī iekļauj koplietojamas augstas pieejamības disku apakšsistēmas izveidi un šī kompleksa bojājumpiecietības un ātrdarbības aspekti. Darba mērķis ir rast risinājumu bojājumpiecietīgas virtuālo serveru izmitināšanas vides izveidei, izmantojot trīs fiziskus serverus, kas atbilst iestādes norādītajām prasībām. Rezultātā izveidota strādājoša vide, kur vienas komponentes kļūme nerada risinājuma nodrošināto servisu zaudlaiku, kā arī noskaidrotas Ceph un augstas pieejamības virtualizācijas klastera izmantošanas nianses, ātrdarbība un risinājumi dažādu kļūmju situācijās.

The Obernai ’Neuen Brunnen’ necropolis in Lower Alsace yielded 29 tombs attributed to the Middle Neolithic. It was probably founded during the Early Grossgartach, at the end of the 48th century BC, and abandoned during the Roessen, perhaps during the Early Roessen, and in any case before the middle of the 46th century BC. The most original feature of this mortuary assemblage is that most of the tombs belong to the Planig-Friedberg period (the last stylistic phase of the Grossgartach) and the Roessen.
