Krill herd algorithm-based neural network in structural seismic reliability evaluation
2018
ABSTRACTIn this research work, the relative displacement of the stories has been determined by means of a feedforward Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model, which employs one of the novel methods for the optimization of the artificial neural network weights, namely the krill herd algorithm. For the purpose of this work, the area, elasticity, and load parameters were the input parameters and the relative displacement of the stories was the output parameter. To assess the precision of the feedforward (FF) model optimized using the Krill Herd Optimization (FF-KH) algorithm, comparison of results has been performed relative to the results obtained by the linear regression model, the Genetic Alg…
(Approximate) Low-Mode Averaging with a new Multigrid Eigensolver
2015
We present a multigrid based eigensolver for computing low-modes of the Hermitian Wilson Dirac operator. For the non-Hermitian case multigrid methods have already replaced conventional Krylov subspace solvers in many lattice QCD computations. Since the $\gamma_5$-preserving aggregation based interpolation used in our multigrid method is valid for both, the Hermitian and the non-Hermitian case, inversions of very ill-conditioned shifted systems with the Hermitian operator become feasible. This enables the use of multigrid within shift-and-invert type eigensolvers. We show numerical results from our MPI-C implementation of a Rayleigh quotient iteration with multigrid. For state-of-the-art lat…
Gaussian processes uncertainty estimates in experimental Sentinel-2 LAI and leaf chlorophyll content retrieval
2013
Abstract ESA’s upcoming Sentinel-2 (S2) Multispectral Instrument (MSI) foresees to provide continuity to land monitoring services by relying on optical payload with visible, near infrared and shortwave infrared sensors with high spectral, spatial and temporal resolution. This unprecedented data availability leads to an urgent need for developing robust and accurate retrieval methods, which ideally should provide uncertainty intervals for the predictions. Statistical learning regression algorithms are powerful candidats for the estimation of biophysical parameters from satellite reflectance measurements because of their ability to perform adaptive, nonlinear data fitting. In this paper, we f…
Wireless sensor network for Spectrum Cartography based on Kriging interpolation
2012
Dynamic spectrum access with Cognitive Radio (CR) network is a promising approach to increase the efficiency of spectrum usage. To allow the optimization of resource allocation and transmission adaptation techniques, each CR terminal needs to acquire awareness of the state of the time-frequency-location varying radio spectrum. In this paper we present a Spectrum Cartography (SC) approach where CR terminals are supported by a fixed wireless sensor network (WSN) to estimate and update the Power Spectral Density (PSD) over the area of interest. The wireless sensors collaborate to estimate the spatial distribution of the received power at a given frequency using either a centralized or a distri…
Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) Representation in Predictive Model Markup Language (PMML)
2017
International audience; This paper describes Gaussian process regression (GPR) models presented in predictive model markup language (PMML). PMML is an extensible-markup-language (XML) -based standard language used to represent data-mining and predictive analytic models, as well as pre- and post-processed data. The previous PMML version, PMML 4.2, did not provide capabilities for representing probabilistic (stochastic) machine-learning algorithms that are widely used for constructing predictive models taking the associated uncertainties into consideration. The newly released PMML version 4.3, which includes the GPR model, provides new features: confidence bounds and distribution for the pred…
Microinnovations among the paradigms of innovation research - what are the common ground issues
2011
If we consider innovations as human action, this research has been dominated on one hand by social and policy making processes and, on the other, by organizational management thinking. In this study, we shall introduce a third perspective to innovation as action, namely, innovation as a human way of thinking. We claim that innovations are always made by thinking people, and therefore we should also look innovations in concepts of scientific research to human thought processes. Since societal and organizational paradigms concern innovations as relatively large wholes, we term the research on these paradigms as macroinnovation research. Here, we study the relations of microinnovations research…
Time resolved CARS measurements of I2 in solid Kr
2006
Dephasing is a central concept in condensed phase spectroscopy. It determines how long a system will maintain its coherence. The dephasing time of a system is determined by dynamic intermolecular interactions, and therefore measurements of dephasing time can provide information on interactions and couplings between a molecule and its environment. This chapter illustrates the application of the femtosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) method to investigate the vibrational dephasing of I 2 in solid krypton. Dephasing of vibrational states between v = 2 and v = 16 is studied in the temperature range T = 2.6–32 K. The low vibrational states show dephasing times on the order of a…
Subcellular localization of bacteriophage PRD1 proteins in Escherichia coli
2014
Bacteria possess an intricate internal organization resembling that of the eukaryotes. The complexity is especially prominent at the bacterial cell poles, which are also known to be the preferable sites for some bacteriophages to infect. Bacteriophage PRD1 is a well-known model serving as an ideal system to study structures and functions of icosahedral internal membrane-containing viruses. Our aim was to analyze the localization and interactions of individual PRD1 proteins in its native host Escherichia coli. This was accomplished by constructing a vector library for production of fluorescent fusion proteins. Analysis of solubility and multimericity of the fusion proteins, as well as their …
W sprawie zgodności z Konstytucją RP powoływania sędziów – członków Krajowej Rady Sądownictwa przez Sejm
2022
Przedmiotem niniejszego tekstu jest ustalenie, czy art. 9a ustawy o Krajowej Radzie Sądownictwa jest zgodny z Konstytucją RP. W celu udzielenia odpowiedzi na to pytanie przeanalizowano relacje, jakie powinny panować pomiędzy poszczególnymi władzami w systemie opartym o zasadę podziału władz.
Right to a court in democratic state ruled by law
2019
