Integration of lot sizing and safety strategy placement using interactive multiobjective optimization

We address challenges of unpredicted demand and propose a multiobjective optimization model to integrate a lot sizing problem with safety strategy placement and optimize conflicting objectives simultaneously. The novel model is devoted to a single-item multi-period problem in periodic review policy. As a safety strategy, we use the traditional safety stock concept and a novel concept of safety order time, which uses a time period to determine the additional stock to handle demand uncertainty. This study investigated the association of hearing loss and self-reported hearing difficulty with the use of health services and unmet health care needs in older adults. We study data-driven decision support and formalise a path from data to decision making. We focus on lot sizing in inventory management with stochastic demand and propose an interactive multi-objective optimisation approach. We forecast demand with a Bayesian model, which is based on sales data. After identifying relevant objectives relying on the demand model, we formulate an optimisation problem to determine lot sizes for multiple future time periods. The Effect of Textual Producer-Generated Descriptions on Demand of Mobile Applications

We analyze the impact of different app description characteristics on app demand on the basis of panel data for six months and 1081 distinct apps. We use several text mining techniques in order to operationalize the descriptions’ textual characteristics. The extracted variables are then used in an econometric investigation to examine their impact on apps’ downloads. Our results provide evidence that app descriptions have an effect on demand. Apps with upfront price should be described in a neutral tone. Apps without an upfront price but with in-app purchase option should be offered with rather short descriptions that are written in a formal and subjective style. peerReviewed

Long-term care of older adults is currently suffering from a shortage of trained personnel and high turnover rates. Care work is poorly paid, demanding, increasingly time-bound and both mentally and physically burdensome. In this study, we examined the individual, organisational and economic factors that predict professional care workers’ intentions to leave their current employment, using the NORDCARE survey data (2015, N = 3801) collected in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Assessing preferences and motivations for owning exotic pets : Care matters

Understanding drivers of demand for exotic pets may help inform adequate conservation strategies to address unsustainable trade. Here, we used a best-worst scaling approach to understand the variety of preferences and motivations for owning exotic pets. Respondents (316 from 33 countries) preferred exotic pets that were captive-bred, had rare aesthetic features, and were common in the wild and abundant in the market. Tässä pro gradu –tutkielmassa estimoidaan alkoholin kysynnän hinta- ja menojoustot Suomessa vuosina 2001-2015. Alkoholin kysyntää tarkastellaan jaoteltuna sekä vähittäismyyntiin ja anniskeluun että eri juomaryhmiin. Kysynnän hinta- ja menojoustot estimoidaan Deatonin & Muellbauerin (1980a) Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) –mallin avulla. Tutkimuksessa huomioidaan mallin muuttujien epästationaarisuus testaamalla sekä epästationaarisuutta että yhteisintegraatiota.
