Strictly correlated electrons approach to excitation energies of dissociating molecules

In this work we consider a numerically solvable model of a two-electron diatomic molecule to study a recently proposed approximation based on the density functional theory of so-called strictly correlated electrons (SCE). We map out the full two-particle wave function for a wide range of bond distances and interaction strengths and obtain analytic results for the two-particle states and eigenenergies in various limits of strong and weak interactions, and in the limit of large bond distance. A key developmental task in young adulthood is acquiring financial capability (Serido, Shim, & Tang, 2013), meaning competent financial management skills and the responsibilities that these involve. This study extends previous research on the theoretical model of the development of financial capability, including financial confidence (or financial self-efficacy) and financial behavior as factors contributing to subjective and financial well-being. Biochemical Flux Model (BFM) on vesiekologinen malli, joka kuvaa yleisimpien aineiden kiertoa meriekosysteemissä. Yksi sisävesien vedenlaatumallinnuksen kehityssuunta on ollut vesiekologisten mallien linkittäminen virtausmalleihin. BFM-malli on useissa tutkimuksissa linkitetty 3D-virtausmalleihin. Tässä tutkimuksessa testattiin BFM-mallin soveltuvuutta järven kasviplanktonin biomassan kehityksen sekä a-klorofyllipitoisuuden kuvaamiseen. Ab initio molecular dynamics study of overtone excitations in formic acid and its water complex

In this article, we present results from ab initio molecular dynamics simulation of overtone excitation in formic acid monomer and its water complex in the gas phase. For the monomer, a conformation change is observed employing both OH and CH vibrational excitations, which supports experimental findings. In the formic acid–water complex, interconversion also takes place, but it proceeds via hydrogen exchange rather than via intramolecular reaction. Simulations raise a question on effect of quantum and matrix effects to the results. Also, a brief test of different computation methods was done on the system. peerReviewed

Binding of ion pairs and neutral guests by aryl-extended meso‑p-hydroxyphenyl calix[4]pyrrole : The interplay between three binding sites

An aryl-extended calix[4]pyrrole with four meso‑p-hydroxyphenyl substituents was investigated as a host for chloride, acetate, and benzoate anions. Crystal structures of pyridinium and imidazolium chloride complexes were obtained in which chloride ions are hydrogen bonded exo-cavity to the upper rim hydroxyl groups, and the aromatic cations are bound to the shallow cavity of the host. Furthermore, the calix[4]pyrrole formed a hydrogen bonded dimeric capsule templated by inclusion of adiponitrile guest in the endo-cavity binding site. Tämän pro gradu- tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää mitä ympäristöherkkyys esteettisen ympäristökasvatuksen kontekstissa tarkoittaa ja mitä hyötyä siitä voi olla ihmisen metsäsuhteen rakentamiselle ja lujittamiselle. Tutkielman lähtökohtana on ollut huoli siitä, että yhä useamman suomalaisen luontosuhde tuntuu heikkenevän koko ajan, minkä seurauksena sekä ihmisten että luonnon hyvinvointi heikkenee. Suomessa metsä on yleisin ja helpoimmin saavutettava luontotyyppi, joten muodostamme luontosuhteemme useimmin juuri metsään. Ympäristökasvatuksessa on perinteisesti painotettu luonnontieteellisen tiedon merkitystä, mutta sen on useissa tutkimuksissa havaittu olevan riittämätön keino ympäristö…
