Use of arms - influence to human balance during perturbation

Tämän Pro gradu –tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää, miten käsien käyttäminen tai käyttämättömyys vaikuttaa ihmisen tasapainon korjaamiseen äkillisessä horjutus (häiriö) tilanteessa. Tutkimukseen osallistui viisi vapaaehtoista koehenkilöä (32 +/- 11 vuotta). Tutkimuksen testiprotokollassa tasapainon korjaamiseksi häiriötilanteessa, henkilö asetettiin seisoman juoksumaton päälle, joka liikahti 0.2 metriä eteenpäin, anterior-suunnassa (nopeus 0.24 m/s). Background and Aims: Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire is a widely used patient-reported outcome measure in hand surgery. The aim of this study was to translate and validate the Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire into Finnish for Finnish patients with hand problems following international standards and guidelines. Arm swing has been shown to lead to greater maximal speed and movement economy in cross -country skiing. The current study aimed to investigate how arm swing alters skiing mechanics and contributes to performance and acceleration of the athlete’s centre of mass (COM). This article investigates the embodied achievement of intersubjectivity by analyzing depictive gestures that are produced during the final components of the ongoing verbal TCU and extended into the following turn transition space. The depictive gestures in focus elaborate the TCUs by providing additional information on the verbal content of the turn. They may, for example, provide a visual representation of an action that is referred to in the verbal TCU, depict details that are not referred to in talk, or perform bodily enactments that model projected next actions. Corticokinematic coherence (CKC) quantifies the phase coupling between limb kinematics and cortical neurophysiological signals reflecting proprioceptive feedback to the primary sensorimotor (SM1) cortex. We studied whether the CKC strength or cortical source location differs between proprioceptive stimulation (i.e., actuator-evoked movements) of right-hand digits (index, middle, ring, and little).
