Translation and Validation of a Brief Health Literacy Instrument for School-Age Children in a Danish Context

Low health literacy (HL) is associated with adverse health behaviors and poor health, and brief, high-quality instruments for measuring HL in children are scarce. The Health Literacy for School-Aged Children (HLSAC) instrument is a 10-item theory-based and internationally validated tool for measuring HL. The purpose of this study was to translate and validate the HLSAC instrument among Danish school-aged children. The instrument was translated into Danish by a standardized forward-backward translation process, and then pre-tested for face validity with 61 pupils from four schools. Poggio Bracciolini’s last work, the Historiae Florentini populi, was edited and dedicated to Federico di Montefeltro by Jacopo di Poggio in 1472. Jacopo also translated the work into the volgare and had it printed in Venice in 1476. In the light of the manuscript tradition, Jacopo’s editorial changes were more considerable than has hitherto been thought. The propagation of his edition and translation would seem to be intimately connected with his political aspirations ending in his unfortunate participation in the Pazzi conspiracy of 1478. peerReviewed

Animated musical films, such as Disney’s Frozen, have long been immensely popular among the globe; however, the investigation of the songs of such films in a dubbing context constitutes a relatively new area of research. This paper compares the theme of isolation in one song from Frozen, ‘Let it go’, in the two Dutch-language dubbed versions released in, respectively, the Netherlands and Belgium. Background and Aims: Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire is a widely used patient-reported outcome measure in hand surgery. The aim of this study was to translate and validate the Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire into Finnish for Finnish patients with hand problems following international standards and guidelines. Interlingual translation of the International Financial Reporting Standards as institutional work

The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) have been widely adopted well beyond English-speaking jurisdictions. Using the Finnish translation of the IFRS as a primary object of investigation, this article analyses the way in which the standards are translated into another language. Drawing on interviews with translators and translation review committee members and on an analysis of archival materials, it provides an empirically grounded understanding of practical problems of linguistic equivalence, and the institutional work required to maintain the IFRS as a global, translingual institution. Tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää amerikkalaisessa komediasarjassa Tuho-osastossa (engl. Scrubs) esiintyvien uusien englanninkielisten sanojen syntytapoja ja näiden sanojen suomenkielisiä käännöksiä. Tutkimuksessa keskitytään seitsemään erilaiseen sananmuodostustekniikkaan, sekä tekstitysten kääntämiseen. Niinpä tutkimuskysymys on kaksiosainen: 1. Minkä tyyppisiä sananmuodostustekniikoita käytetään uusien englanninkielisten sanojen luomisessa Tuho-osastossa, ja 2. Kuinka nämä uudet sanat on käännetty suomeksi.
