The research topic of this dissertation is the press of the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP) from the March revolution of 1917 in Russia to the end of the Finnish Civil War in the spring of 1918. Under research are 16 party papers, which, however, were not owned by the party, and therefore neither under its guidance nor control. The papers' owners, local working class organizations, elected the editors-in-chief, who often held central posts in the party. In this way they could use their relatively independent positions to further their political views in their editorials. Esittelemme artikkelissa Jyväskylän yliopiston fysiikan laitoksella kehitettyä opetuksen toimintamallia, joka perustuu teknologiatuettuun pienryhmäopiskeluun ja kurssin aikaiseen formatiiviseen arviointiin. Toimintamalli kehittää työelämätaitoja, tehostaa opettajien ja opiskelijoiden ajankäyttöä, vahvistaa opiskelijoiden välistä vuorovaikutusta ja hyödyntää suunnitelmallisesti tuloksia fysiikan opetuksen tutkimuksesta. Renderöintilaitoksen ja teurastamon typpipitoisten sivutuotteiden käsittely mesofiilisessa ja termofiilisessa anaerobiprosessissa

Teurastamo- ja renderöintiprosessien sivutuotteet sisältävät paljon proteiineja ja rasvoja ja ovat energiapitoisia, mikä tekee niistä potentiaalisia anaerobiseen käsittelyyn. Kolmea teurastamosivutuotetta (siipikarja-, nauta- ja sikajaetta) sekä viittä renderöintiprosessin materiaalia (slammia, biolietettä, dekantterikuraa, rasvanerotusaltaan ylitettä ja sulatetta)käytettiin anaerobiprosessin materiaalina. Demands and Challenges : Experiences of Ethiopian Rural School Teachers

Rural schools in Ethiopia are characterized by high drop-out rates, a lack of teaching materials, and low learning achievements. This study examines the experiences of teachers who work in such schools and emphasizes that their work can make significant contributions to the development of education in Ethiopia. The paper seeks to answer a question: ‘How do the teachers perceive their work situation and how could this be improved?’ The findings show that according to teachers’ opinion the current principal challenge is the tension between strict curriculum requirements, associated with annual testing, and follow-up, while the government insists that teaching should be more student centered. …

Understanding teachers’ mental models of collaboration to enhance the learning community

This study examined representations of Finnish basic education teachers’ mental models of collaboration to reveal the background features that enable or hinder changes in a school community and teacher collaboration. In this case study, we explored 41 teachers’ mental models of collaboration in a one-school community to identify and understand the features that enhance or challenge collaboration. The findings raise the question of how collaboration can support a school’s transition to a unified comprehensive school, when teachers are accustomed to working alone with a strong sense of autonomy and diverse mental models of collaboration. Mä en ymmärtäny niitä pallukoita : lukihäiriö pianonsoiton opiskelussa

Erilaisten oppijoiden asemasta musiikkioppilaitoksissa on keskustelu vasta viime aikoina. Oppimateriaalia tai tutkimustietoa soittajien kokemuksista on kuitenkin vähän. Suomalainen musiikkioppilaitosjärjestelmä on koko maan kattava ja sen piirissä opiskelee tuhansia nuoria eri puolilla maata. Lukivaikeuksia arvellaan olevan noin kahdellakymmenellä prosentilla lukemista opettelevista lapsista, joten heitä on luultavasti soittamista harrastavissa lapsissa ja nuorissa enemmän kuin olemme osanneet ajatella.
