Tutkimme artikkelissamme ekologista ja affektiivista outouttamista suomalais-ruotsalaisessa spekulatiivista fiktiota ja Nordic noiria yhdistävässä televisiosarjassa White Wall (2020). Väitämme, että sarjan affektiivinen kokonaissävy muodostuu spekulatiivisen fiktion ja Nordic noirin lajityypillisten elementtien yhdistyessä, mikä rakentaa outouttavaa katsojakokemusta, jossa fiktiivisen maailman outous yhdistyy tosimaailman ekologisiin kysymyksiin. Tämä affektiivisen ja ekologisen outouttamisen yhdistelmä toimii lähtökohtana sarjan, etenkin sen keskeisen oudon ilmiön, valkoisen seinän, posthumanistiselle luennallemme. Täplärapu (Pacifastacus leniusculus) on vieraslaji, mutta sitä on istutettu paljon suomalaisiin vesistöihin etenkin rapuruton hävittämien jokirapukantojen tilalle. Kalataloudellisesti täpläravun merkitys on nykyään huomattava. Täpläravun vaikutusta kalalajeihin on tutkittu vähän. Säkylän Pyhäjärvellä täplärapukanta on kasvanut nopeasti 2000-luvulla, mutta samalla myös siikapopulaatio on heikentynyt huomattavasti. Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitettiin täpläravun vaikutusta siikapopulaatioon vuosina 1998–2010. Recognition of tree species and geospatial information on tree species composition is essential for forest management. In this study, tree species recognition was examined using hyperspectral imagery from visible to near-infrared (VNIR) and short-wave infrared (SWIR) camera sensors in combination with a 3D photogrammetric canopy surface model based on RGB camera stereo-imagery. An arboretum with a diverse selection of 26 tree species from 14 genera was used as a test area. Abstract Background Invasive pest species offers a unique opportunity to study the effects of genetic architecture, demography and selection on patterns of genetic variability. Invasive Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata) populations have experienced a rapid range expansion and intense selection by insecticides. Martial arts and combat sports have been traditionally associated with masculinity, and a range of contradictory meanings have been attached to women’s engagement and experiences. The present study draws on cultural praxis and feminist poststructuralist frameworks to explore how female martial artists are subjectified to dominant cultural discourses surrounding fighting and competition. Interviews with nine female judoka (judo athletes) were gathered in Finland and analyzed using Foucauldian Discourse Analysis (FDA). Currently, the recently erected genus Crenubiotus (Adorybiotidae, Macrobiotoidea) includes only three species, all of which are characterised by dentate lunulae and cuticular tubercules organised in the band in the dorso-caudal part of the body. By means of integrative taxonomy, we describe a fourth species of the genus: Crenubiotus salishani sp. nov., from Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, Canada. Mūsdienās Staphylococcus epidermidis ir vieni no visbiežāk izolētajiem nozokomiālo infekciju izraisītājiem pacientu grupā ar tādiem riska faktoriem kā novājināta imūnsistēma un implantētām medicīniskajām ierīcēm. Bayesian Modeling of Sequential Discoveries

We aim at modelling the appearance of distinct tags in a sequence of labelled objects. Common examples of this type of data include words in a corpus or distinct species in a sample. These sequential discoveries are often summarised via accumulation curves, which count the number of distinct entities observed in an increasingly large set of objects. We propose a novel Bayesian method for species sampling modelling by directly specifying the probability of a new discovery, therefore allowing for flexible specifications.
