Vironkielistä tekstiä lukevien suomalaisten on havaittu hyödyntävän monenlaisia strategioita selvittääkseen sukukielen sanojen merkityksiä. Yksi niistä on pohjustaminen (priming). In this article the wave energy density of the northern Sicilian coasts is evaluated and is used to evaluate the producibility of a wave nergy converter to be installed in an area in the north west part of Sicily. In particular, the objective of the study is the evaluation of a potential installation in an area between Trapani and Palermo, which are the largest cities in the north west part of Sicily. Agronomical evaluation of Sicilian biotypes of Lavandula stoechas L. spp. stoechas and analysis of the essential oils

The aim of this study was to characterize wild lavender, which was collected in three different areas of Sicily (Italy),according to agronomic and chemical evaluation. The collection sites were located in Pantelleria island, Partinico (a warm sub-area of Lauretum) and Castelbuono (a middle sub-area of Lauretum). All the populations were identified as Lavandula stoechas L. ssp. stoechas. Essential oils were extracted by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gas chromatography– flame ionization detector (GC–FID) and GC–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Essential oil (EO) was extracted using hydrodistillation from samples of Origanum vulgare subspecies hirtum (Link) Ietswaart, gathered from the wild in various parts of Sicily, Italy; GC-FID and GC-MS analyses were subsequently performed. The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between essential oil yields and the geographical distribution of oregano wild populations based on variations in environmental factors as collection sites. This article explores the development of the theme of the Life-giving Spring in Byzantine iconography. The path towards its establishment was initiated at the moment when a representation rule, an original convention was set. Thereafter, because of its diffusion in time and space, the theme became enriched by particular mentalities and sensibilities of the epochs and the communities that adopted it as a form of devotion for the Virgin Theotokos. El romanés i el valencià presenten un contrast similar entre la sibilant no palatal /s/ i la sibilant palatal /?/, però l’articulació de les dues consonants presenta diferències entre les dues llengües. D’una banda, en romanés /s/ es realitza com a dental, més avançada que en valencià; de l’altra, /?/ presenta en romanés un grau de palatalitat major, amb més endarreriment articulatori que en valencià. Three three-letter words in three recent novels in three different languages: God, sex and joy

In this article, the authors propose to analyse the ways in which religion and sexuality are related to one another in three recent novels: (1) Fransi Phillips�s Die donker god (2007), (2) Inga �olude�s Santa Biblia (2013) and (3) Michel Houellebecq�s Soumission [English translation: Submission] (2015). In each case, the novels are briefly placed within their respective literary cultures (Afrikaans, Latvian and French) in order to offer a contextually sensitive analysis.
