Querying NoSQL-based crowdsourcing systems efficiently
2016
In this paper, we provide a novel approach for effectively and efficiently support query processing tasks in novel NoSQL crowdsourcing systems. The idea of our method is to exploit the social knowledge available from reviews about products of any kind, freely provided by customers through specialized web sites. We thus define a NoSQL database system for large collections of product reviews, where queries can be expressed in terms of natural language sentences whose answers are modeled as lists of products ranked based on the relevance of reviews w.r.t. the natural language sentences. The best ranked products in the result list can be seen as the best hints for the user based on crowd opinio…
A description based on languages of the final non-deterministic automaton
2014
The study of the behaviour of non-deterministic automata has traditionally focused on the languages which can be associated to the different states. Under this interpretation, the different branches that can be taken at every step are ignored. However, we can also take into account the different decisions which can be made at every state, that is, the branches that can be taken, and these decisions might change the possible future behaviour. In this case, the behaviour of the automata can be described with the help of the concept of bisimilarity. This is the kind of description that is usually obtained when the automata are regarded as labelled transition systems or coalgebras. Contrarily t…
Complexity of operations on cofinite languages
2010
International audience; We study the worst case complexity of regular operation on cofinite languages (i.e., languages whose complement is finite) and provide algorithms to compute efficiently the resulting minimal automata.
¿Un transhumanismo nietzscheano? Sobre la parcialidad del alegato
2020
Ethiopian Semitic Languages
2006
The article presents an overview of the Ethiopian Semitic (ES) languages spoken in the Horn of Africa. Among the presently spoken Semitic languages, ES languages comprise more than 80% and are divided into a northern and a southern group. Although this division is basically regional, there is a strong morpho-syntactic support for this classification. ES languages show a higher complexity in the use of concatenative and nonconcatentative morphemes for various grammatical categories. This rich morphological behavior, the SOV order, and other peculiar morphophonemic features are assumed to be the result of language contact, but sufficient data for this claim are still lacking.
Real-Time Vector Automata
2013
We study the computational power of real-time finite automata that have been augmented with a vector of dimension k, and programmed to multiply this vector at each step by an appropriately selected k×k matrix. Only one entry of the vector can be tested for equality to 1 at any time. Classes of languages recognized by deterministic, nondeterministic, and "blind" versions of these machines are studied and compared with each other, and the associated classes for multicounter automata, automata with multiplication, and generalized finite automata.

Electron Ion Collider: The Next QCD Frontier: Understanding the glue that binds us all
2016
International audience; This White Paper presents the science case of an Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), focused on the structure and interactions of gluon-dominated matter, with the intent to articulate it to the broader nuclear science community. It was commissioned by the managements of Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) with the objective of presenting a summary of scientific opportunities and goals of the EIC as a follow-up to the 2007 NSAC Long Range plan. This document is a culmination of a community-wide effort in nuclear science following a series of workshops on EIC physics over the past decades and, in particular, the focus…
Miksi työmarkkinoiden ja kielikoulutuksen tarpeet eivät kohtaa?
2012
Luopumalla eri kielten lokeroajattelusta ja omaksumalla uudenlainen näkemys kielten opiskeluun tuotettaisiin suurempaa kielitaitohyötyä niin työelämässä kuin sen ulkopuolellakin. Language for Jobs työryhmä on etsinyt ratkaisuja kielitaitotarpeiden ja kielikoulutuksen tarjonnan kohtaamisen ongelmiin.
Ontology Views for Ontology Change Management
2014
International audience; In the literature, ontology change management systems (OCMS) are direct implementation of the concept of “change management” stated by reference (Klein, 2004). Ontology change management combines ontol- ogy evolution and versioning features to manage ontol- ogy changes and their impacts. Since 2007, many works have combined ontology evolution and versioning into ontology change management systems (OCMS). The evolution subject has been massively studied in these works. They especially addressed the consistence issue for the application of changes on the ontology. These proposals constituted a consequent background for ontology change management but they did not take i…
