Single-staged laryngotracheal reconstruction for idiopathic tracheal stenosis.

2013

Background This study retrospectively evaluated the results of surgically treated idiopathic tracheal stenosis. Methods Of the 220 patients surgically treated for idiopathic subglottic and tracheal stenosis in the participating hospitals, we reviewed the surgical records of all patients with idiopathic tracheal stenosis. This subgroup required resection of all of the involved mucosa but frequently had undergone more conservative treatments that damaged the tracheal mucosa and cartilage and complicated the definitive surgical treatment. Results During the study period, 60 women (93.8%) and 4 men (6.2%), who were a mean age of 50 years (range, 19 to 77 years), were surgically treated for idio…

Anestesisykepleieres metoder for å kontrollere cufftrykk – en observasjonsstudie

2021

2016

Pierwsze publikacje dotyczące użycia CFD w medycynie dotyczyły przede wszystkim pulmonologii i kardiologii, czyli dziedzin, w których dynamiczne właściwości gazu i płynu odgrywają ważną rolę w prawidłowym funkcjonowa - niu organizmu.

Przydatność metody CFD w diagnostyce i leczeniu chorób krtani

2020

Metoda komputerowej dynamiki płynów (Computational Fluid Dynamics; CFD) to dział mechaniki płynów wykorzystujący metody numeryczne do rozwiązywania zagadnień przepływu płynów.

Transoral Robotic Surgery for Early-T Stage Glottic Cancer Involving the Anterior Commissure—News and Update

2022

BackgroundAbout 20% of all glottic carcinomas involve the anterior commissure (AC), and AC involvement was deemed to be a risk factor of local recurrence and poor prognosis. Transoral robotic surgery (TORS) has been developed for a panoramic view of the AC and en-bloc resection of the tumor by multidirectional dissection with endo-wristed instruments. With satisfactory preliminary results, we would like to update the data with a bigger cohort and present the news on using TORS for salvage treatment of recurrence from irradiation failure.MethodsFrom July 2010 to December 2019, 22 patients with early T1 and 2 stage primary (n = 11) or recurrent (n = 11) glottic cancer with AC involvement rece…

NBI and Laryngeal Papillomatosis: A Diagnostic Challenge: A Systematic Review.

2022

Narrow-band imaging (NBI) represents a valid aid in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) diagnosis for detecting vascular changes. However, LSCC and laryngeal papillomatosis (LP) show similar vascular patterns that may lead to misdiagnosis and improper treatment. This review aims to deepen this NBI limit in order to stress a careful preoperative evaluation of laryngeal lesions. The research was carried out on PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus databases using specific keywords. The topic of research was assessed by these parameters: accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values. This review included only five articles: they demonstrated that NBI is bette…

Distribution of Met-enkephalyl-Arg-Gly-Leu in rat larynx: partial coexistence with vasoactive intestinal polypeptide, peptide histidine isoleucine an…

1990

Abstract Using light microscopic (LM) enzyme-immunohistochemistry on deparaffinized adjacent sections Met-enkephalyl-Arg-Gly-Leu (ME-RGL) immunoreactivity was found to partially coexist with immunoreactive neuropeptide Y (NPY), vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) and peptide histidine isoleucine (PHI) in intrinsic laryngeal neurons of the rat. Further ME-RGL-immunoreactive (ir) fibres were found around glands in the subepithelium, in connective tissue of striated muscle and in the perichondrium, as well as around arterial and venous blood vessels. They frequently contacted mast cells and macrophages. The presence of ME-RGL indicates pro-enkephalin-related origin of this novel laryngeal …

The Impact of Narrow-band Imaging on the Pre- and Intra- operative Assessments of Neoplastic and Preneoplastic Laryngeal Lesions. A Systematic Review

2020

Abstract Introduction Narrow-band imaging is an endoscopic diagnostic tool that, focusing on superficial vascular changes, is useful to detect suspicious laryngeal lesions, enabling their complete excision with safe and tailored resection margins. Objectives To analyze the applications and benefits of narrow-band imaging in detecting premalignant and malignant laryngeal lesions through a comparison with white-light endoscopy. Data Synthesis A literature search was performed in the PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science databases using strict keywords. Then, two authors independently analyzed the articles, read the titles and abstracts, and read completely only the relevant studies according to c…
