Charge injection and trapping at perovskite interfaces with organic hole transporting materials of different ionization energies

2019

The extraction of photogenerated holes from CH3NH3PbI3 is crucial in perovskite solar cells. Understanding the main parameters that influence this process is essential to design materials and devices with improved efficiency. A series of vacuum deposited hole transporting materials (HTMs) of different ionization energies, used in efficient photovoltaic devices, are studied here by means of femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy. We find that ultrafast charge injection from the perovskite into the different HTMs (<100 fs) competes with carrier thermalization and occurs independently of their ionization energy. Our results prove that injection takes place from hot states in the valence…

From Above Threshold Ionization to Statistical Electron Emission: The Laser Pulse-Duration Dependence ofC60Photoelectron Spectra

2000

The photoelectron spectra of C60 ionized using a 790 nm laser with pulse durations varying from 25 fs to 5 ps have been determined. For 25 fs pulses, in the absence of fragmentation, the ionization mechanism is direct multiphoton ionization with clear observation of above threshold ionization. As the pulse duration is increased, this becomes dominated by a statistical ionization due to equilibration among the electronic degrees of freedom. For pulse durations on the order of a ps coupling to the vibrational degrees of freedom occurs and the well-known phenomenon of delayed (ms) ionization is observed.

Absorption spectroscopy of single InAs self-assembled quantum dots

2004

Abstract Excitonic transitions of single InAs self-assembled quantum dots were directly measured at 4.2 K in an optical transmission experiment. We use the Stark effect in order to tune the exciton energy of a single quantum dot into resonance with a narrow-band laser. With this method, sharp resonances in the transmission spectra are observed. The oscillator strengths as well as the homogeneous line widths of the single-dot optical transitions are obtained. A clear saturation in the absorption is observed at modest laser powers.

CO2 laser-induced structure changes in lead zirconate titanate Pb(Zr0.58Ti0.42)O3 sol–gel films

2003

Based on absorption spectra of lanthanum modified lead zirconate titanate Pb0.9La0.1(Zr0.65Ti0.35)O3 (PLZT10/65/35) ferroelectric ceramics an idea of local and selective treatment of lead zirconite titanate Pb(ZrXTi1−X)O3 (PZT) sol–gel film in the multi-layer structure by CO2 laser radiation was formulated. The possibility to obtain PZT perovskite film on the SiO2/Si substrate by irradiation with CO2 laser was shown experimentally. X-ray studies revealed the PZT perovskite structure ratio growth at the expenses of pirochlore structure with an increased power density of laser radiation.

Infrared laser threshold magnetometry with a NV doped diamond intracavity etalon

2019

International audience; We propose a hybrid laser system consisting of a semiconductor external cavity laser associated to an intra-cavity diamond etalon doped with nitrogen-vacancy color centers. We consider laser emission tuned to the infrared absorption line that is enhanced under the magnetic field dependent nitrogen-vacancy electron spin resonance and show that this architecture leads to a compact solid-state magnetometer that can be operated at room-temperature. The sensitivity to the magnetic field limited by the photon shot-noise of the output laser beam is estimated to be less than 1 pT/ √ Hz. Unlike usual NV center infrared magnetometry, this method would not require an external f…

Role of Shallow Electron Traps in the Fast Transient Optical Phenomena of Alkali Halide Crystals

2002

We present additional evidences that the same shallow electron traps-atomic alkali impurity centres [M + ] c 0 e - are responsible for both classes (A and B) of the transient IR-absorption bands: (A) bands with maximum at 0.27-0.36 eV in NaCl, KCl, KBr, KI and RbCl (due to shallow electron traps or bound polarons) and (B) bands with maximum at 0.15-0.36 eV in NaI, NaBr, NaCl:I, KCl:I, KBr:I, RbCl:I and RbBr:I (due to on-centre STE or on-centre STE localised at iodine dimer). Both classes of the IR bands have the same location, similar shape (both exactly coincide for KCl:I and KCl at 10 or 80 K), half-width, vibration structure. It is established that the same Mollwo-Ivey plot curves E o =a…

Helium gas pressure cell for pressures up to 1 kbar (0.1 GPa) in conjunction with the cold head of a closed-cycle He refrigerator

1997

A helium gas pressure cell for pressures up to 1 kbar (0.1 GPa) has been developed in conjunction with a closed-cycle He refrigerator allowing variable temperatures between 15 and 300 K. Both cell and refrigerator are equipped with optical windows suitable for photophysical measurements, such as temperature- and pressure-dependent absorption spectroscopy or laser flash photolysis. Examples of measurements on iron(II) spin-crossover systems are given. In these compounds, comparatively small external pressures induce significant changes in the thermodynamic equilibrium as well as in the relaxation dynamics.

Essential features of optical processes in neon-buffered submicron-thin Rb vapor cell

2010

A new submicron thin cell (STC) filled with Rb and neon gas is developed and comparison of resonant absorption with STC containing pure Rb is provided. The effect of collapse and revival of Dicke-type narrowing is still observable for the thickness L = lambda /2 and L = lambda , where lambda is a resonant laser wavelength 794 nm (D(1) line). For an ordinary Rb cm-size cell with addition of buffer gas, the velocity selective optical pumping/saturation (VSOP) resonances in saturated absorption spectra are fully suppressed if neon pressure0.5 Torr. A spectacular difference is that for L = lambda , VSOP resonances are still observable even when neon pressure isor = 6 Torr. Narrow fluorescence s…

Visible to vacuum-UV range optical absorption of oxygen dangling bonds in amorphous SiO2

2011

Synthetic silica glass with an optical absorption spectrum dominated by oxygen dangling bonds (nonbridging oxygen hole centers, or NBOHCs) and having negligible (1%) contribution from the usually copresent Si dangling bonds (E\ensuremath{'}-centers), was prepared by room temperature ultraviolet photobleaching of high SiOH content (``wet'') silica, irradiated by F${}_{2}$ laser (7.9 eV) at $T$ = 80 K. This allowed us to obtain the up-to-now controversial optical absorption spectrum of NBOHC in the ultraviolet and vacuum-ultraviolet (UV-VUV) region of the spectrum and to show that it is semicontinuous from 4 to 7.8 eV and cannot be represented by a pair of distinct Gaussian bands. Since NBOHC…
