Nd:KGW Laser under Flashlamp-pumping at Repetition Rate up to 50 Hz and Average Power of 70 W (free-lasing and Q-switched mode)
1997
The laser performance of Nd:KGd(WO4)2 crystal or Nd:KGW has been studied under flashlamp-pumping in the free-running and Q-switched mode (with active or passive Q-switching) at repetition rate up to 50 Hz. Maximum output powers respectively of 70 and 30 W were achieved at 1.06 pm with a maximum efficiency of 6%. Free-running emission was also obtained at 1.35 pm with a maximum average power of 24 W and a total efficiency of 2.9% at this wavelength. A comparison with a similar Nd:YAG crystal is given showing a noticeable advantage for Nd:KGW.
Laser and radiofrequency spectroscopy of the 5d 4 6s 6 D multiplet in Ta I
1993
The hyperfine structure (hfs) of181Ta has been investigated using laser radio-frequency double resonance and high resolution laser spectroscopy on collimated atomic beams. The magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole hyperfine structure coupling constants of the 5d46s 6D3/2, 5/2, 7/2, 9/2 metastable states have been determined using radio-frequency spectroscopy. In the 5d4 6s6D1/2 metastable state and the excited 5d3 6s 6p4D3/2,6D5/2, 9/2 as well as the unidentified 28 182.6 cm−1 and 30 021.2 cm−1 states, hfs constants have been obtained from high resolution laser spectroscopy. A radio-frequency converter has been developed in order to reach the frequency region 2.7–10 GHz.
Thermal effects of continuous laser treatment on Ti-6 Al(wt%)-4V(wt%) titanium alloy
2008
A titanium alloy Ti-6 Al(wt%)-4V(wt%) was treated in air by Nd:YAG laser radiation (wavelength of 1.064 %m) in continuous mode. Targets were irradiated globally with different levels of energy (accumulated fluence) at constant power. Different focal lengths and beam displacement velocities were used. Cross section microstructural observations were carried out by scanning electron microscopy. Backscattered electron imaging reveals microstructural modifications in samples. A structural phase transformation of beta (bcc) to alpha prime (hcp) phase was observed. The depth of the transformed zone observed by phase transformation is dependent on the treatment parameters. Conformity between micros…

Preliminary study on the laser cleaning of stainless steels after high temperature oxidation
2000
Abstract The objective of the present work was to estimate the influence of pulsed laser irradiation on the removal of the oxide layer, which is developed on the surface of stainless steels during their exposure to high temperature oxidation. In general, this layer is a protective one, mainly against corrosion. However, in many manufacturing applications or maintenance work, the removal of the oxides is necessary; for example, the metallic surfaces should be cleaned before welding, otherwise the presence of oxides increases the tendency to brittle behaviour of the joint. In this study, a pulsed Nd:YAG laser (λ=1.064 μm, 10 ns) was used for the surface cleaning of three stainless steels with…
Vacuum arc deposition of protective layers on glass and polymer substrates
2001
Abstract Vacuum arc deposition allows one to deposit various coatings on insulating and temperature-sensitive substrates (like polymers). An advantage of the vacuum arc deposition technique is the low substrate temperature during the deposition process. A vacuum arc deposition apparatus for the coating of large-area substrates has been developed. Ti, TiN, TiO 2 and diamond-like single and multilayer coatings have been deposited on plastic and glass substrates. The vacuum arc technology permits formation of multilayer colour filters of high uniformity on substrates with dimensions up to 2000×1400 mm 2 . The microstructure, chemical composition and optical properties of the deposited coatings…
Improved Cu2O/AZO Heterojunction by Inserting a Thin ZnO Interlayer Grown by Pulsed Laser Deposition
2019
Cu2O/ZnO:Al (AZO) and Cu2O/ZnO/AZO heterojunctions have been deposited on glass substrates by a unique three-step pulsed laser deposition process. The structural, optical, and electrical properties of the oxide films were investigated before their implementation in the final device. X-ray diffraction analysis indicated that the materials were highly crystallized along the c-axis. All films were highly transparent in the visible region with enhanced electrical properties. Atomic force and scanning electron microscopies showed that the insertion of a ZnO layer between the Cu2O and AZO films in the heterojunction enhanced the average grain size and surface roughness. The heterojunctions exhibi…
Interaction effect of Nd:YAG laser and universal adhesive system for dentin sealing
2020
Made available in DSpace on 2021-06-25T10:46:55Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2020-01-01 Background: To evaluate the influence of the association of the universal adhesive system to different energy densities of the Nd:YAG laser on the hydraulic conductance of dentin. Material and Methods: Fifty bovine dentin discs were made. The samples were stratified into four groups (n = 10) according to the treatment performed; SBU- Adper Single Bond Universal (3M ESPE), SBU_60 - SBU associated with the Nd:YAG laser (60mJ, 10Hz, 0.6W - 47.77 J / cm²), SBU_80 - SBU associated with the Nd:YAG laser (80mJ, 10Hz, 0.8 W - 63.69 J / cm2) and C – dentin without treatment (smear layer). Hyd…

2018
Background To evaluate in vitro, the ability in removing debris and Smear Layer of 17% EDTA and Er,Cr:YSGG laser. Material and methods 58 unirradicular teeth were instrumented with MTwo® and divided into 3 groups according to irrigation protocol: 17%EDTA, laser and a combination of 17%EDTA and laser. All samples were analyzed in the apical and middle third with Scanning Electron Microscope.
