New fiber laser architecture with transform-limited nonlinear spectral compression

2012

International audience; We numerically demonstrate a new fiber laser architecture supporting spectral compression of negatively chirped pulses in passive normally dispersive fiber. Such a process is beneficial for improving the energy efficiency of the cavity as it prevents narrow spectral filtering from being highly dissipative. The proposed laser design provides an elegant way of generating transform-limited picosecond pulses.

Modèles quantiques à deux états avec croisements de niveaux décrits par les fonctions de Heun

2019

The thesis is devoted to the fundamental problem of excitation and manipulation of quantum systems, having discrete energy spectrum, via external laser fields. We examine the semiclassical time- dependent quantum two-state problem, when the external electromagnetic field is resonant or quasi-resonant for some two of many levels of the system. The focus of the thesis is on the analytic description of the non- adiabatic evolution of quantum systems subject to excitation by level-crossing field configurations. In the present thesis we classify the complete set of the semiclassical time-dependent quantum two-state models solvable in terms of the five function of the Heun class.Main results of t…

Femtosecond Raman time-resolved molecular spectroscopy

2004

International audience; The applicability of several femtosecond time resolved non-linear coherent techniques such as Raman induced polarization spectroscopy (RIPS), degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) and coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) for molecular spectroscopy is presented. All methods rely on the initial coherent excitation of molecular states producing wavepackets, whose time evolution is then measured. In the case of RIPS and DFWM only pure rotational transitions are involved, whereas in CARS vibrational states can be excited. First the methodology of concentration and temperature measurements using RIPS in gas mixtures involving N2, CO2, O2, and N2O is shown. In additi…

Self-Optimising Breather Ultrafast Fibre Laser

2021

We demonstrate the self-optimisation of the breather regime in an ultrafast fibre laser through an evolutionary algorithm. Depending on the specified merit function, single breathers with controllable breathing ratio and period, and breather molecular complexes with a controllable number of constituents can be obtained.

Optical waveform tailoring in passive and laser cavity fibre systems

2019

International audience; The interplay among the effects of dispersion, nonlinearity and gain/loss in optical fibres is a powerful tool to generate a broad range of pulse shapes with tuneable properties. Here we propose a method to optimise the systems parameters for a given pulse target. By reducing the system complexity and applying machine-learning strategies, we show that it is possible to efficiently identify the sets of parameters of interest. Two configurations are numerically investigated: pulse shaping in a passive normally dispersive fibre and pulse generation in a dual-pump nonlinear-amplifying-loop-mirror mode-locked fibre laser.

High Order Harmonic Passive Mode-Locking In Double-Clad Fiber Laser

2009

We report passive mode-locking of a soliton erbium-doped double-clad fiber laser operating at the 322nd harmonic of the fundamental cavity frequency. Repetition rates scalable up to 3 GHz have been obtained with a pulse duration of about 1 ps and a pulse energy of about 18 pJ. The supermode suppression at the 322nd harmonic is better than 25 dB. The dynamics of emergence of this operating regime is also presented revealing a very long timescale.

Stabilisation of modelocking in fibre ring laser through pulse bunching

2001

Bunching of equally spaced pulses is reported to be the most stable mode of operation in a passively modelocked fibre ring laser. The ring includes dispersion management, which results in the absence of strict pulse energy quantisation, giving pulse bunching a better immunity to environmental perturbation.

X-ray irradiation influence on prototype Er3+-optical fibers: confocal luminescence study

2010

International audience; The integration of rare-earth doped optical fibers as part of fiber-based systems in space implies the development of waveguides tolerant to the radiation levels associated with the space missions. We report the spatial distribution, the photoluminescence (PL) properties of color centers and the related changes induced by X-rays radiation at different doses (50, 500 and 1000 krad) for two different prototypes of Er-doped optical fibers. Each sample (in the version pristine, X-irradiated and H2 loaded prior to radiation exposure) was characterized by confocal microscopy luminescence (CML) measurements in Visible range with Visible (488 nm) or UV (325 nm) laser light e…

Revised Analysis of the Structure of the v1 Band of Methane

1983

Abstract The CARS spectrum of the v 1 band of 12 CH 4 at a pressure of 14 mbar was recorded using cw excitation in the cavity of a ring argon ion laser. The analysis of the intensity profile of the obarred spectrum led to the detection of inconsistencies with the hitherto proposed calculated positions of transitions with J = 7 to J = 10 and to a relocation of the corresponding lines.
