Un contrato inédito de Juan de Juanes. El retablo de la Cofradía de la Sangre de Cristo de Valencia (1539)
2012
This article is based on an unpublished contract signed in 1539 by Vicente and Juan Macip for an altarpiece for the Valencian Brotherhood of the Blood of Christ. The agreement stipulates that Juan, later known as Juan de Juanes, had to paint the scenes. Thus the document reinforces the hypothesis that Juan Macip was the most important painter in the Macip workshop during the 1530’s. It also fills a documental void in between the completion of the Silversmith’s Guild altarpiece (1534-1539) and the contract for the Fuente la Higuera altarpiece (1548). This study also verifies the popularity of the iconography of the seven sheddings of the Blood of Christ and processions of disciplinants.<b…

The contract dated 1511 signed by Fernando Llanos and Fernando Yáñez de la Almedina, Castillian painters known as “the Hernandos,” for the termination of an altarpiece in the chapel of the “Virgen de les Febres” is presented here. This chapel was founded in 1497 in the collegiate church of Jàtiva (Valencia) by Francisco de Borja, Bishop of Teano and Cardinal of Cosenza. Music as a resource for psychological health for music professionals : A Nordic survey
2020
Purpose: Interest in the health relevance of music has been growing rapidly, yet few studies have addressed the protective role of music for music professionals themselves. In the current study, we investigated music professionals’ (music teachers, music therapists, musicians and academics) health, particularly their uses of music as a resource for their psychological health. Design: An online survey (N = 504) for music professionals was conducted across four Nordic countries. Participants responded to questions on music as a resource for psychological health and assessed their general levels of health and health behaviors. Their self-reported health was compared to similar prior data from …
Ergonomics and cultural heritage: the Palatina chapel in Palermo, Italy
2007
The present article presents results of a study that aims at the assessment of ergonomic safety conditions inside the Palatina chapel of Palermo. To reach this object, an informative questionnaire was established so as to collect visitors’ subjective judgments regarding overall ergonomic conditions in terms of accessibility, availability, safety or else environmental conditions (thermo-hygrometry; air, sound and visual quality); this stage was carried out, bearing in mind the Museum Visitors’ Rights Card that is currently under creation by the "Legambiente" group. An automatic instrument was bought to daily count the numbers of visitors; the latter element shall then be related to indoor en…
Assesment of the Conservation State of Stone Materials in Relation to the Level Environmental Pollution in the Conservation Place
2007
The patina represents a superficial natural alteration of the constituting matter of the work of art. It emerges from the natural and usual stabilization process that the materials of the surface undergo because of the interaction with outdoor agents characterizing the surrounding environment. Besides, it is not linked to an obvious phenomenon of degradation that can be noticed through the change in the original colour of the matter. This is what we intend when we talk about biological patina usually generated by macro and/or micro-organic colonization (fungi, bacteria, alga) which contributes to surface bio-deterioration and thus lead to the formation of orange, red or even brown and dark …

Agave.
The present essay describes and analyzes Agave. Contributo allo studio delle fonti della storia dell'arte in Italia …
Subjectivation, togetherness, environment. Potentials of participatory art for Art Education for Sustainable Development (AESD)
2017
Through a process-oriented analysis of the participatory art project The Hill this article explores the relevance of participatory art projects for the development of AESD – Art Education for Sustainable Development. Inspired by Felix Guattari’s Three Ecologies (2008) the analysis moves through three sub-studies delving into three different aspects of the project. Each sub-study adopts two overlapping analytical ‘lenses’: The lens of a contemporary art form (performance art, community art, and site-specific art) and the lens of a related theoretical concept (subjectivation, togetherness, environment). The aim is to propose art educational ideas and strategies that stimulate students to chal…
Nordic contemporary art education and the environment: Constructing an epistemological platform for Art Education for Sustainable Development (AESD)
2012
How can art educators address questions of environmental sustainability, accepting to be ethically normative but avoiding becoming dogmatic? How can the complex ‘pool’ of knowledge generated in and through art education research become useful in working with these questions, which many of us find overwhelmingly difficult? AESD – Art Education for Sustainable Development – is a concept coined for this article with the intention of bringing environmental problems onto the agenda. In an attempt to provoke the necessary discussion about environmental sustainability in art education, the article examines selected texts from recent Nordic research in order to build an ‘epistemological platform’ t…
