Electronic Processes in Solid State: Dirac Framework

2019

The present paper proposes canonical Dirac framework adapted for application to the electronic processes in solid state. The concern is a spatially periodic structure of atoms distinguished by birth and annihilation of particle states excited due to interaction with the electromagnetic field. This implies replacing the conventional energy-momentum relation specific of the canonical Dirac framework and permissible for particle physics by a case specific relation available for the solid state. The advancement is a unified and consistent mathematical framework incorporating the Hilbert space, the quantum field, and the special relativity. Essential details of the birth and annihilation of the …

A novel approach to quantifying the sensitivity of current and future cosmological datasets to the neutrino mass ordering through Bayesian hierarchic…

2017

We present a novel approach to derive constraints on neutrino masses from cosmological data, while taking into account our ignorance of the neutrino mass ordering. We derive constraints from a combination of current and future cosmological datasets on the total neutrino mass $M_\nu$ and on the mass fractions carried by each of the mass eigenstates, after marginalizing over the (unknown) neutrino mass ordering, either normal (NH) or inverted (IH). The bounds take therefore into account the uncertainty related to our ignorance of the mass hierarchy. This novel approach is carried out in the framework of Bayesian analysis of a typical hierarchical problem. In this context, the choice of the ne…

Spiral Inflation

2015

We propose a novel scenario of primordial inflation in which the inflaton goes through a spiral motion starting from around the top of a symmetry breaking potential. We show that, even though inflation takes place for a field value much smaller than Planck scale, it is possible to obtain relatively large tensor to scalar ratio ($r \sim 0.1$) without fine tuning. The inflationary observables perfectly match Planck data.

Peccei–Quinn field for inflation, baryogenesis, dark matter, and much more

2016

We propose a scenario of brane cosmology in which the Peccei-Quinn field plays the role of the inflaton and solves simultaneously many cosmological and phenomenological issues such as the generation of a heavy Majorana mass for the right-handed neutrinos needed for seesaw mechanism, MSSM $\mu$-parameter, the right amount of baryon number asymmetry and dark matter relic density at the present universe, together with an axion solution to the strong CP problem without the domain wall obstacle. Interestingly, the scales of the soft SUSY-breaking mass parameter and that of the breaking of $U(1)_{\rm PQ}$ symmetry are lower bounded at $\mathcal{O}(10) {\mathrm TeV}$ and $\mathcal{O}(10^{11}) {\ma…

Status of neutrino oscillations 2018: 3 hint for normal mass ordering and improved CP sensitivity

2018

We present a new global fit of neutrino oscillation parameters within the simplest three-neutrino picture, including new data which appeared since our previous analysis [1]. In this update we include new long-baseline neutrino data involving the antineutrino channel in T2K, as well as new data in the neutrino channel, data from NOνA, as well as new reactor data, such as the Daya Bay 1230 days electron antineutrino disappearance spectrum data and the 1500 live days prompt spectrum from RENO, as well as new Double Chooz data. We also include atmospheric neutrino data from the IceCube DeepCore and ANTARES neutrino telescopes and from Super-Kamiokande. Finally, we also update our solar oscillat…

Observation of a resonant structure in e+e− → ωη and another in e+e− → ωπ0 at center-of-mass energies between 2.00 and 3.08 GeV

2021

Abstract Born cross sections for the processes e + e − → ω η and e + e − → ω π 0 have been determined for center-of-mass energies between 2.00 and 3.08 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The results obtained in this work are consistent with previous measurements but with improved precision. Two resonant structures are observed. In the e + e − → ω η cross sections, a resonance with a mass of ( 2176 ± 24 ± 3 ) MeV / c 2 and a width of ( 89 ± 50 ± 5 ) MeV is observed with a significance of 6.2σ. Its properties are consistent with the ϕ ( 2170 ) . In the e + e − → ω π 0 cross sections, a resonance denoted Y ( 2040 ) is observed with a significance of more than 10σ. Its mass an…

Simple theory for scotogenic dark matter with residual matter-parity

2020

Dark matter stability can result from a residual matter-parity symmetry surviving spontaneous breaking of an extended gauge symmetry. We propose the simplest scotogenic dark matter completion of the original SVS theory (Phys.Rev. D22 (1980) 738), in which the "dark sector" particles as well as matter-parity find a natural theoretical origin in the model. We briefly comment on its main features.

Study of $e^{+}e^{-} \to D^{+} D^{-} \pi^{+} \pi^{-} $ at center-of-mass energies from 4.36 to 4.60 GeV

2020

We report a study of the $e^{+}e^{-} \to D^{+} D^{-} \pi^{+} \pi^{-}$ process using $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data samples with an integrated luminosity of $2.5\,\rm{fb}^{-1}$ at center-of-mass energies from 4.36 to $4.60 \rm{GeV}$, collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The $D_{1}(2420)^+$ is observed in the $D^{+} \pi^{+} \pi^{-}$ mass spectrum. The mass and width of the $D_{1}(2420)^+$ are measured to be $(2427.2\pm 1.0_{\rm stat.}\pm 1.2_{\rm syst.}) \rm{MeV}/c^2$ and $(23.2\pm 2.3_{\rm stat.} \pm2.3_{\rm syst.}) \rm{MeV}$, respectively. The first errors are statistical and the second ones are systematic. In addition, the Born cross sections of the $e^{+}e^{-} \to D…

Scotogenic dark matter and Dirac neutrinos from unbroken gauged B − L symmetry

2020

We propose a simple extension of the standard model where neutrinos get naturally small “scotogenic” Dirac masses from an unbroken gauged B−L symmetry, ensuring dark matter stability. The associated gauge boson gets mass through the Stueckelberg mechanism. Two scenarios are identified, and the resulting phenomenology briefly sketched.

Quasi-elastic polarization-transfer measurements on the deuteron in anti-parallel kinematics

2019

We present measurements of the polarization-transfer components in the H2(e→,e′p→) reaction, covering a previously unexplored kinematic region with large positive (anti-parallel) missing momentum, pmiss, up to 220MeV/c, and Q2=0.65 (GeV/c)2. These measurements, performed at the Mainz Microtron (MAMI), were motivated by theoretical calculations which predict small final-state interaction (FSI) effects in these kinematics, making them favorable for searching for medium modifications of bound nucleons in nuclei. We find in this kinematic region that the measured polarization-transfer components Px and Pz and their ratio agree with the theoretical calculations, which use free-proton form factor…
