Ansiedad ante las ciencias y pruebas de evaluación científicas: efectos del nivel académico y género

Resumen En este trabajo se hace una primera aproximación a la ansiedad de los estudiantes de secundaria ante las ciencias. Se han aplicado a 175 estudiantes de educación secundaria de diferentes cursos dos cuestionarios validados y una prueba de evaluación de competencias científicas. Un cuestionario mide la ansiedad ante diversos contextos científicos y el otro evalúa la ansiedad generada por una prueba de evaluación de ciencias. La Didáctica de las Ciencias Experimentales se puede considerar ya como un cuerpo global y coherente de conocimientos específicos entre los que existe un "núcleo duro" donde se hallan, entre otros, aquellos contenidos más directamente relacionados con aspectos claves para la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de las ciencias. Su apropiación por parte del profesorado, es algo necesario para poder avanzar hacia una enseñanza de las ciencias de mayor calidad. Sin embargo, dicha apropiación exige la superación de una serie de problemas que deben ser tenidos muy en cuenta. En este trabajo se analizan algunos de ellos y se justifican algunas propuestas para poder avanzar en su solución.

Mitochondria are critical regulator of cell metabolism; thus, mitochondrial dysfunction is associated with many metabolic disorders. Defects in oxidative phosphorylation, ROS production, or mtDNA mutations are the main causes of mitochondrial dysfunction in many pathological conditions such as IR/diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. Thus, targeting mitochondria has been proposed as therapeutic approach for these conditions, leading to the development of small molecules to be tested in the clinical scenario. The objective of this study is to present a computer-based project, for which our program POLAR and our version of PAPID were written for the study of the subject of resonance in chemistry. Both algorithms allow a better didactic strategy and methodological adaptation for the study of molecular properties in chemical education. Teachers will find the options of POLAR and PAPID useful for demonstrations. Quality of autochthonous Sicilian plums

Thirty four plum local varieties and accessions obtained from different growing area of the Sicilian island were analyzed for their qualitative and nutraceutical properties and three commercialcultivar were used as references. These properties included the fruit fresh weight (g), the pulp firmness (FFF), the total soluble solids (TSS), the titratable acidity (TA), the total anthocyanins,the phenolics content and the antioxidant activity.This preliminary study showed significantly differeces among the plums; Zuccarato giallo and Prunu Niuru presented TSS higher than the commercial cultivars (24.9 and 21.6 °Brix respectively)and interesting data obtained on the nutraceutical compounds values …

Background: Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) is a widespread disease and the most destruction causing agent of citrus. Pakistan is ranked amongst the top ten citrus producing countries around the globe and it contributes about 2% to its foreign exchange earnings. Based on this assumption it is very important to monitor and determine the evolutionary forces and the phylogeography of Pakistani CTV population. Methods: A total of 49 sequences of p20 gene from Pakistan were phylogenetically compared with CTV sequences worldwide.
