Ammattitaito on koulutuksella ja kokemuksella hankittu pätevyys toimia määrätyssä ammatissa. Useat viimeaikaiset tutkimukset osoittavat, että ammattilaiset kokevat oppineensa jopa suurimman osan työssä tarvittavista taidoista vasta työssä. Elinikäinen oppiminen voidaankin nähdä erääksi avainprosessiksi työelämän muutoksen hallinnassa. Erityisesti tämä koskee ikääntyviä työntekijöitä. Vaikka suomalaiset ovat kansainvälisesti aktiiveja aikuisopiskelijoita, vain prosentti yli 40-vuotiaista osallistuu tutkintotavoitteiseen koulutukseen. Siksi henkilöstökoulutuksella on keskeinen sija ikääntyvien aikuisten ammattitaidon säilyttämisessä.

To be able to support young children in learning to learn—an ability that requires adapting often-unprecedented changes in society—teachers need to be aware of the ways in which children understand learning. In this qualitative study, 177 micro-interviews conducted with 41 Finnish children were analysed using an abductive method to understand their perceptions of learning in a preschool. Learning was perceived as learning to do or know things. Literacy skills, mathematical skills and educational expectations among Finnish adolescents

This study investigated the connection between educational expectations and skills in spelling, reading fluency and mathematics among Finnish 9th Graders. Connection between comorbidity of reading disability and mathematical disability with educational expectations was also examined. These connections were explored among boys and girls and the effects of parental education were assessed, as well. Cross tabulations and analyses of variance were used as tools for analyses. Spelling, reading fluency and mathematics were connected to educational expectations, with higher skills leading to higher expectations.
