Summary Objectives: Problem- and project-based learning are approved methods to train students, graduates and post-graduates in scientific and other professional skills. The students are trained on realistic scenarios in a broader context. A Novel Deep Learning Stack for APT Detection

We present a novel Deep Learning (DL) stack for detecting Advanced Persistent threat (APT) attacks. This model is based on a theoretical approach where an APT is observed as a multi-vector multi-stage attack with a continuous strategic campaign. To capture these attacks, the entire network flow and particularly raw data must be used as an input for the detection process. By combining different types of tailored DL-methods, it is possible to capture certain types of anomalies and behaviour. Thompson Sampling Guided Stochastic Searching on the Line for Non-stationary Adversarial Learning

This paper reports the first known solution to the N-Door puzzle when the environment is both non-stationary and deceptive (adversarial learning). The Multi-Armed-Bandit (MAB) problem is the iconic representation of the exploration versus exploitation dilemma. In brief, a gambler repeatedly selects and play, one out of N possible slot machines or arms and either receives a reward or a penalty. The objective of the gambler is then to locate the most rewarding arm to play, while in the process maximize his winnings. Exploring the affordances of Numbas for mathematical learning: a case study

International audience; The computer-based assessment system Numbas offers new learning possibilities in mathematics education by means of formative feedback. The paper proposes a theoretical framework that captures the affordances emerging from students' interactions with Numbas at the technological, mathematical, and assessment level. The aim of the paper is to explore the affordances that arise from these levels using the theoretical framework as a lens. Based on the results, preliminary conclusions and recommendations for future work are proposed.

The Big Five Traits and Their Ramifications

This chapter focuses on the analysis of the Big Five traits, discussed in relation to the classical and modern views on the trait hierarchy. In the next section the socioaffective, cognitive and educational, as well as behavioural ramifications of each trait are outlined in order to create a general background for the analysis of the Big Five in the foreign language learning context. In the light of the above considerations, each trait appears to have beneficial, and also negative effects for the individual’s functioning. Finally, a discussion of age and gender differences in the Big Five, and their development across the lifespan is offered.

Abstract Subjective well-being is a major psychological construct in the research tradition. Along with literature, authors have distinguished between hedonic and eudaimonic well-being. The aim of this study is to determine the role of some psychosocial variables plays in the perceived well-being is conceived from a hedonic or a eudaimonic perspective.
