Non-linear analysis of a modified QPSK Costas loop

A Costas loop is one of the classical phase-locked loop based circuits, which demodulates data and recovers carrier from the input signal. The Costas loop is essentially a nonlinear control system and its nonlinear analysis is a challenging task. In this article for a modified QPSK Costas loop we analyze the hold-in, pull-in and lock-in ranges. Application of time-dependent many-body perturbation theory to excitation spectra of selected finite model systems

In this thesis, an approximate method introduced to solve time-dependent many-body problems known as time-dependent many-body perturbation theory is studied. Many-body perturbation theory for interacting electrons and phonons is reviewed. In particular, the electron propagator G and an unconventional two-component phonon propagator, which satisfy coupled integral Dyson equations, are introduced. Relationships of young adults with foster care backgrounds : tensions and management strategies

The present study focuses on experiences of relational tensions and management strategies in family relationships among 18 young adults with foster care backgrounds who participated in interviews. In the analysis drawing from relational dialectics, three main tensions were revealed in the participants' relationships with birth and foster family members or in their romantic relationships: the dialectics of emotional distance‐closeness, integration‐separation and sameness‐otherness. Artikkelissa käsitellään Prometheus-leirien vaikutusta leiriläisiin. Tutkimus on monimenetelmäinen aineistolähtöinen tutkimus ja asettuu nuorisotutkimuksen monitieteiseen kenttään. Tulkinnat pohjautuvat leirien osallistujilta leirikesän 2017 aikana ja jälkeen koottuihin kirjoitelmiin ja videopäiväkirjoihin sekä verkkokyselyyn. Tutkimusote korostaa leiriläisten omia tulkintoja. Jäsentävänä käsitteenä käytetään maailmankuvien kehitystä. Aineistossa rakentuu tarina itseymmärryksen syvenemisestä ja leirin vaikuttavuuden prosessinomaisuudesta. Leirien vaikutus näyttää myös keskittyvän pikemminkin sosiaalisiin taitoihin kuin tietoon. peerReviewed

Molecular and hormonal responses and adaptation to resistance and protein nutrition in young and older men

The aim of the present study was to investigate the mechanisms leading to muscle hypertrophy in humans by studying local muscle molecular and systemic hormonal responses to a single bout of heavy resistance exercise (RE) and to long-term resistance training (RT) with or without protein supplementation in a randomized controlled double-blinded design. In line with earlier studies, heavy RT for 21 weeks led to muscle hypertrophy and an increase in muscle strength in both young and older men. Nāves motīvs Aleksandra Čaka prozā līdz Otrajam pasaules karam

Bakalaura darbā “Nāves motīvs Aleksandra Čaka prozā līdz Otrajam pasaules karam” analizēti visi līdz Otrajam pasaules karam publicētie A. Čaka stāsti, kuros minēts nāves motīvs. Stāsti analizēti mākslinieciskajā laiktelpā un 20. gs. 20. un 30. gadu latviešu īsās prozas attīstības kontekstā. Darbā pētīta nāves nozīme stāstu mākslinieciskajā pasaulē un prozas varoņa atainojumā. A. Čaks pieder modernajai 30. gadu literātu paaudzei, kuru īsprozas centrā ir vientuļš, atsvešināts un dažādu psiholoģisku problēmu nomākts indivīds. Darbā secināts, ka A. Čaka stāstu varonis jūtas pasaulē ierobežots. Nāve stāstu varonim nozīmē izeju no viņa ierobežotā esības stāvokļa, iespēju izbēgt no dzīves grūtībām.

Ar naftas produktiem vēsturisko piesārņojumu attīrīšanas potenciāla novērtēšana

Ar ogļūdeņražiem piesārņoto grunti testēja laboratorijas apstākļos 23 diennaktis ar mērķi, novērtēt biodegradācijas potenciālu grunts attīrīšanai. Tika izmantoti ogļūdeņražu piesārņoti augsnes paraugi, kas ņemti no [0 – 3] metru dziļuma. Kopumā darbam bija trīs varianti, katram divi atkārtojumi. Variantiem pievienoja dažādas piedevas, lai veiktu biostimulāciju, kā arī baktēriju konsorciju. Visiem grunts paraugiem noteica pH, elektrovadītspēju (EC), elpošanas intensitāti, mitrumu, kolonijas veidojoši vienību (KVV) skaitu, tika veikta mikroskopēšana un noteikts Corg daudzums gruntī. In many countries, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to strong restrictions and changed the everyday lives of older people. In Finland, people aged 70 and over were instructed to stay at home under quarantine-like conditions.
