Studies of the immunopathogenesis of Leishmania major-induced murine cutaneous leishmaniasis provide a framework for understanding the evolution of L. major infection of skin in humans and the foundation for rationale vaccine design. Experiments in which infection is initiated with "suprap hysiologic" numbers of parasites clearly identify Th-derived type I cytokines as essential participants in macrophage activation and macrophage nitric oxide production as prerequisite for parasite control. Hemispatial neglect refers to the defective ability of patients to explore or act upon the side of space contralateral to the lesion and to attend to stimuli presented in that portion of space. Evidence from animal models suggests that many of the behavioural sequelae associated with visual neglect may result not solely from the size of the lesion, but also from a pathological state of increased inhibition exerted on the damaged hemisphere by the contralesional hemisphere. Aims: The aim of the study was to develop a scoring model to evaluate the quality of bioresorbable vascular scaffold (BVS) implantation and determine the model's usefulness in predicting adverse cardiac events. Methods and results: The implantation technique and clinical outcomes of 1,736 lesions treated with BVS were analysed using the GHOST-EU registry. Predilation, scaffold sizing, and post-dilation (PSP) were scored according to the hazard model derived from the weight of these variables. Predictors of early scaffold thrombosis: results from the multicenter prospective German-Austrian ABSORB RegIstRy.

BACKGROUND In randomized clinical trials, the risk of thrombotic events with the absorb bioresorbable vascular scaffold (BVS) was significantly higher than with metallic drug-eluting stents. We evaluated predictors of scaffold thrombosis in the large-scale, multicenter German-Austrian ABSORB RegIstRy. METHODS AND RESULTS 3178 patients with treatment of 4252 lesions using 5020 scaffolds were included. Follow-up rate at 6 months was 97.4%. Forty-five (1.42%) patients experienced definite/probable scaffold thrombosis during follow-up.
