Biology of the preimaginal stages in trogid beetles (Coleoptera): Experimental data∗

Abstract Some aspects of larval behaviour in two species of trogid beetles, Trox bispidus (Pontoppidan) from temperate Europe and Afromorgus tuberosus (Klug) from tropical Africa, have been studied experimentally. From the results obtained it emerges that the rise of the newborn larvae towards the soil surface is imputable to a simple negative geotropism. Larval food relocation also contributes to reducing aggressive interactions at the food source. The potential range of trophic and behavioural variation seems to be larger than that expressed in nature as a rule. Purpose To evaluate the differences in endothelial cell density (ECD) and central corneal thickness (CCT) between type II diabetic patients and age-matched healthy controls, and determine the impact of time from diagnosis. Methods This is a comparative study of 77 eyes of type II diabetic patients (33 males, 44 females) and 80 eyes of healthy subjects (42 males, and 38 females) whose ages ranged from 38 to 56 years. CCT, ECD, HbA1c levels, and Goldmann tonometry were measured. The influence of diet on inflammation in children remains unclear. We aimed to analyze the influence of diet on high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels in a pre-pubertal population free of other influences that may affect hs-CRP levels. We determined hs-CRP levels in 571 six- to eight-year-old children using an hs-CRP ELISA kit. Information on food and nutrient intake was obtained through a food-frequency questionnaire. Overall dietary quality was assessed using the Healthy Eating Index (HEI). New rotational levels in $^{186}$Re nucleus

International audience; Excited levels of 186 Re have been studied using results of the single γ -ray spectra measurements following the thermal neutron capture reaction. Energies and intensities of more than 500 γ -transitions have been obtained with the high-resolution crystal diffraction spectrometer GAMS5 of ILL. Most of the obtained intense γ -transitions have been placed in the 186 Re level scheme. A number of new levels, as well as the depopulation for levels observed earlier in the 187 Re (p,d)186 Re reaction measurements have been proposed. The 2D:4D ratio is the quotient between the index and ring finger lengths and is a non-direct indicator of androgenisation. If prenatal testosterone levels in the amniotic fluid are high then the probability increases of developing lower ratio values. It has been suggested that people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and their parents may have highly androgenised brains, and for this reason the 2D:4D ratio is used as a marker of such idiosyncrasies. Abstract In this paper we use advanced choice modelling techniques to analyse demand for freight transport in a context of modal choice. To this end, a stated preference (SP) survey was conducted in order to estimate freight shipper preferences for the main attributes that define the service offered by the different transport modes.
