This paper deals with the identification of incipient damage in structural elements by non-destructive test based on experimentally measured structural dynamical response. By applycation of the Hilbert transform to the recorded signal the so-called phase of the analytical signal is recovered and a proper functional is constructed in such a way that its global minimum gives a measure of the damage level, meant as stiffness reduction. Minimization is achieved by applying a modified Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) for continuous variables, inspired by the ants’ forageing behavior. Tämä tutkimus tarkastelee suomalaisten populaarimusiikkiäänitteiden tuotantoprosesseja tuotantoteknologisesta näkökulmasta. Digitaalisen ääniteteknologian demokratisoitumisen myötä kotistudiotoiminta on Suomessa lisääntynyt merkittävästi 1990-luvulta lähtien. Tämän johdosta äänitteen työvaiheita tai kokonaisia valmiita äänitteitä tuotetaan nykyisin kotistudioissa enemmän kuin koskaan aiemmin. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää millä tavoin edellä kuvailemani ääniteteknologian murros näyttäytyy suomalaisten populaarimusiikkiäänitteiden tuotantoprosesseissa. Bounds on plastic strains for elastic plastic structures in plastic shakedown conditions

The problem related to the computation of bounds on plastic deformations for structures in plastic shakedown condition (alternating plasticity) is studied. In particular, reference is made to structures discretized by finite elements constituted by elastic perfectly plastic material and subjected to a special combination of fixed and cyclic loads. The load history is known during the steady-state phase, but it is unknown during the previous transient phase; so, as a consequence, it is not possible to know the complete elastic plastic structural response. Effective Recovery Process of Copper from Waste Printed Circuit Boards Utilizing Recycling of Leachate

AbstractThis study presents an optimized leaching and electrowinning process for the recovery of copper from waste printed circuit boards including studies of chemical consumption and recirculation of leachate. Optimization of leaching was performed using response surface methodology in diluted sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide media. Optimum leaching conditions for copper were found by using 3.6 mol L−1 sulfuric acid, 6 vol.% hydrogen peroxide, pulp density of 75 g L−1 with 186 min leaching time at 20°C resulting in complete leaching of copper followed by over 92% recovery and purity of 99.9% in the electrowinning. On the limit velocity and buckling phenomena of axially moving orthotropic membranes and plates

In this paper, we consider the static stability problems of axially moving orthotropic membranes and plates. The study is motivated by paper production processes, as paper has a fiber structure which can be described as orthotropic on the macroscopic level. The moving web is modeled as an axially moving orthotropic plate. The original dynamic plate problem is reduced to a two-dimensional spectral problem for static stability analysis, and solved using analytical techniques.
