Measurement of the azimuthal ordering of charged hadrons with the ATLAS detector

This paper presents a study of the possible ordering of charged hadrons in the azimuthal angle relative to the beam axis in high-energy proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). A spectral analysis of correlations between longitudinal and transverse components of the momentum of the charged hadrons, driven by the search for phenomena related to the structure of the QCD field, is performed. Data were recorded with the ATLAS detector at center-of-mass energies of √s=900 GeV and √s=7 TeV. Measurement of hard double-parton interactions inW(???) + 2-jet events at $\sqrt{s}\,=7$ TeV with the ATLAS detector

The production of W bosons in association with two jets in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of √s=7 TeV has been analysed for the presence of double-parton interactions using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb[superscript −1], collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The fraction of events arising from double-parton interactions, f[superscript (D) over subscript DP], has been measured through the p[subscript T] balance between the two jets and amounts to f[superscript (D) over subscript DP] = 0.08 ± 0.01 (stat.) ± 0.02 (sys.) for jets with transverse momentum p[subscript T] > 20 GeV and rapidity |y| < 2.8. Abstract Strain IC203, deficient in the OxyR function, was sensitive to both cytotoxic and mutagenic effects of isoniazid (INH) whereas its parent, WP2 uvrA /pKM101, was resistant to these effects. Four other hydrazine compounds, hydrazine hydrate (HZH), phenylhydrazine (PHZ), hydralazine (HLZ) and nialamide (NLD), were mutagenic in WP2 uvrA /pKM101. Increases in mutagenicity were observed in IC203 for HZH and PHZ but not for HLZ and NLD. Growth inhibition zones by HZH, PHZ and NLD were larger in IC203 than in WP2 uvrA /pKM101. Vuoden 2010 alussa toteutettu Suomen yliopistokenttää ravistellut yliopistouudistus aiheutti aikanaan kiivasta keskustelua. Yhtäältä uudistusta puolustettiin vetoamalla yliopistojen autonomian lisääntymiseen ja kilpailukyvyn parantumiseen, toisaalta uudistus nähtiin yliopistodemokratian horjuttamisena ja keskitetyn ylhäältä alaspäin suuntautuvan top-down-hallinnon lisääntymisenä. Bayesian PDF reweighting meets the Hessian methods

Volume: 273 New data coming from the LHC experiments have a potential to extend the current knowledge of parton distribution functions (PDFs). As a short cut to the cumbersome and time consuming task of performing a new PDF fit, re weighting methods have been proposed. In this talk, we introduce the so-called Hessian re-weighting, valid for PDF fits that carried out a Hessian error analysis, and compare it with the better-known Bayesian methods. We determine the existence of an agreement between the two approaches, and illustrate this using the inclusive jet production at the LHC. Peer reviewed
