The aim of this study was to analyse the relationship between the quality of attachment relationships with parents and peers on the one hand, and ego-resiliency and self- esteem on the other hand. The present research was conducted with a group of 218 students (male = 101) aged from 11 to 19 years (M = 14.43, DS = 2.60). The results emphasize that (a) self-esteem is positively associated only with security of attachment to the mother, (b) ego-resil- iency is positively associated with security of attachment both to mother and peers, and (c) boys seem to have higher levels of self-esteem and ego-resiliency than girls.

Tutkimuksen taustalla on saksan ja ruotsin heikentynyt asema koulukielinä: saksan lukijamäärät ovat laskussa ja ruotsin kielen asemasta pakollisena kielenä keskustellaan jatkuvasti. Many forest tree species have been moved outside their native range to provide goods and services elsewhere, but some of them have become invasive, causing negative impacts on biodiversity and human activities. Dikerogammarus villosus (Sowinsky, 1894) (Crustacea, Amphipoda) colonizes next alpine lake – Lac du Bourget, France.

4 pages; Dikerogammarus villosus has been recorded for the first time in the alpine lake – Lac du Bourget, French Alps. Low abundance of the alien species in gathered samples suggests that the colonization is just in its initial stage. Two native gammarid species: Gammarus fossarum (Koch, 1835) and G. pulex (Linnaeus, 1758) are still present in the lake. The invader has most probably reached the lake through the Canal de Savières joining the lake to the Rhone River in which it has been already present since late 1990s.
Heat production of frogs under normoxic and hypoxic conditions: A microcalorimetric study using a gas flow system

Abstract Heat production of male frogs, Rana temporaria , was measured in a microcalorimeter through which a continuous flow of gas was passed in order to generate constant normoxic, hypoxic or anoxic conditions. The normoxic heat flow was 163 ± 37 μ W g body weight in frogs that had not been treated with curare and 149 ± 69 μ W g in animals immobilized with curare. During anoxia, frogs, whether curarized or not, decreased their heat production to about 25% of the respective normoxic control. In graded hypoxia (10% to 3% O 2 ), curarized frogs decreased their heat rate according to the grade of hypoxia they were subjected to.
