Synthesis and characterisation of a new class of phosphine-phosphonite ferrocenediyl dinuclear rhodium complexes

2004

We previously reported the easy access to mixed ferrocenediyl ligands bearing phosphine and phosphonite moieties. Using this strategy, a new enantiopure phosphine-menthylphosphonite ferrocenediyl has been synthesised. This mixed ligand leads to original unsymmetrical dinuclear rhodium coordination-complexes. One example of this new class of “quasi-close bridging A frame” dinuclear rhodium complexes, fully characterised by multinuclear 1H, 13C, 31P and 103Rh NMR and optical rotation measurements, is presented. Preliminary tests have shown an activity improvement in the hydroformylation of oct-1-ene using the phosphine-menthylphosphonite ferrocenediyl auxiliary compared to known phosphine-pho…

Towards multifunctional magnetic systems through molecular-programmed self assembly of Re(IV) metalloligands

2015

Abstract The molecular-programmed approach based on the use as ligands of tailor-made metalloligands containing stable six-coordinate rhenium(IV) as paramagnetic centres is presented in this review article. A relatively large amount of spin density is covalent-delocalized away from the rhenium to the peripheral atoms of the ligands in the case of the Re(IV) metalloligands, as shown by polarized neutron diffraction experiments and density functional theory calculations. This feature accounts for the significant through space-magnetic interactions that occur in most of its mononuclear species and more interestingly it also explains the strengthening of the magnetic interactions in the heterom…

Synthesis and photophysical properties of dansyl-based polyamine ligands and their Zn(II) complexes

2007

The synthesis, potentiometric studies and photophysical properties of two new polyamine ligands (L1 and L2) possessing the dansyl chromophore were studied in aqueous 0.15 M NaCl. The compounds show the absorption and emissions bands characteristic of the dansylamide fluorophore and both present intramolecular excited state proton transfer at intermediate pH ranges. One of the ligands (L2) strongly coordinates Zn(II) leading to fluorescence quenching. A model compound (L3) of the dansyl moiety was also investigated. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/B6TG5-4MB4DV1-2/1/45cafbcee9a8df7daddd765512437ca3

2009

The synthesis from triazolopyridines 1, of novel triazolopyridylcarbonylpyridylcarbonyltriazolopyridines (TPyCOPyCOTPy) (tpcpctp) 7, and polypyridylcarbonylpyridines (pPyCOPy) (ppcp) 14, building blocks in supramolecular chemistry, is described. These compounds are interesting polynitrogenated ligands as potential molecular sensors, new magnetic materials, single molecular magnets, or in the emerging science of nanomaterials. Ligands P-stéréogéniques dérivés du calix[4]arène. Synthèses et applications en catalyse asymétrique

2010

We were interested in synthesis of P-stereogenic ligands derived from calix[4]arene and in their application in asymmetric catalysis. Mono et diphosphines were prepared on the upper rim of the macrocyle starting from the mono or dianion of the calix[4]arene and chlorophosphines borane or the oxazaphospholidine borane complex. The best selectivity was obtained by reaction of the dianion with the oxazaphospholidine borane complex leading to a bisaminophosphine borane. After acidolysis with HCl giving the corresponding bischlorophosphine and reaction with organolithium reagents, diphosphines diborane were obtained with good yields (40 à 60 %). X-ray structures of the prepared ligands confirmed…

Calculation of organic solvent–water partition coefficients of iron–sulfur protein models

2002

Abstract A method is presented that permits semiquantitative estimation of the partitioning of many solutes between many pairs of media. As an example, the organic solvent–water partition coefficients P are calculated. The only needed parameters are the dielectric constant and molecular volume of the organic solvent. Fe 4 S 4 Cys n models of high-potential FeS proteins are studied. The Gibbs free energies of solvation and partition coefficients for Fe 4 S 4 Cys n are calculated. The organic solvent–water partition coefficients for 1-octanol P o , cyclohexane P ch and chloroform P cf decrease 4.41, 6.22 and 4.60 log units per cysteine (Cys) ligand, respectively. P o results are compared with…

The Bile Acid Receptor GPBAR-1 (TGR5) Modulates Integrity of Intestinal Barrier and Immune Response to Experimental Colitis

2011

Background GP-BAR1, a member G protein coupled receptor superfamily, is a cell surface bile acid-activated receptor highly expressed in the ileum and colon. In monocytes, ligation of GP-BAR1 by secondary bile acids results in a cAMP-dependent attenuation of cytokine generation. Aims To investigate the role GP-BAR1 in regulating intestinal homeostasis and inflammation-driven immune dysfunction in rodent models of colitis. Methods Colitis was induced in wild type and GP-BAR1−/− mice by DSS and TNBS administration. Potential GP-BAR1 agonists were identified by in silico screening and computational docking studies. Results GP-BAR1−/− mice develop an abnormal morphology of colonic mucous cells a…

Biogenic synthesis of palladium nanoparticles using Pulicaria glutinosa extract and their catalytic activity towards the Suzuki coupling reaction.

2014

Green synthesis of nanomaterials finds the edge over chemical methods due to its environmental compatibility. Herein, we report a facile and eco-friendly method for the synthesis of palladium (Pd) nanoparticles (NPs) using an aqueous solution of Pulicaria glutinosa, a plant widely found in a large region of Saudi Arabia, as a bioreductant. The as-prepared Pd NPs were characterized using ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The hydroxyl groups of the plant extract (PE) molecules were found mainly responsible for the red…

Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectrometric Diagnosis of Familial Hypercholesterolemia

2000

We have developed a new nonradioactive assay to identify human low-density lipoprotein receptor defects. It is based on the incubation of cultured cells with colloidal gold-LDL conjugates and quantitation of the gold associated with the cells by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. After an oxidative treatment with nitric and hydrochloric acids, the biological matrix interferes neither with the gold recovery nor with the gold measurements, which are linear, at least from 0.15 to 3 ng of gold. When cells expressing a functional LDL receptor are incubated with increasing amounts of colloidal-gold LDL conjugates, the obtained saturation curve parallels that described when [125I]LDL i…
